India Colombia trade target set at USD 2 bn

India Colombia trade target set at USD 2 bn

New Delhi, May 15: India and Colombia have set a target to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion from the $650 million at present.

Colombian Ambassador to India Juan Alfredo Pinto Saavedra said this was his “immediate target.

He was speaking at a function to mark the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and the Colombian Association of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

FIEO president Ganesh Kumar Gupta, who signed the MoU on behalf of his group, said India would be sending a trade delegation to Colombia. A Colombian trade delegation would also be here in September 2008, when a buyer seller meet would be organised.

FIEO Director General Ajay Sahai added that Indian exporters should look at the possibility of setting up a manufacturing base in Colombia to take advantage of the US-Colombia free trade agreement and increase exports to United States.

I am glad to know that Colombia is allso setting sites on trade with countries other than the U.S. as more competition will be better for the purcahsing power of Colombians.

Colombia still has to ge rid of tarrifs on Electronics and home appliances

I've never had Indian food. Do you guys recommend it? And what should I order if I ever go? There's an Indian place by my work and I've wanted to go for a while. Any advice?

Thanks!

For colombians who think Kraft/Heinz barbecue sauce is hot Indian food with knok you off your chair.

Indian food varries greatly but the overall concept is similar to Italy. The northern Indian food is more creamy, meat oriented and fatty. The southern Indian stuff is more veggie and red sauce and also hotter.

Palak Paneer or Saag Paneer is an awesome spinach side dish (Spinach and a firm cheese that's not all that cheesy).

My fav all time reg dish is Malai Kofta.

Tandoori are grilled meat type dishes not all that hot. Tandoori mixed grill is a safe bet and offers variety.

If you want hot get a Vindaloo dish (lamb, chicken, beef) - another one of my favs. If they see you are a foreigner they will tone down the heat. Ask for it doube or triple hot as they treat westerners with kid gloves. But only if you want to sample it like the locals.

Naan is the pita type bread and get a lot of this if you are ording hot stuff. Remember - water does not solve the hots. Rice and bread do.

There is a desert that Gulab Jamun (I can't spell it) it's little balls of milk bread and fat in a sugar syrup sauce. one of these = half a heart attack. They are served warm and the portion is litlle - 3 balls usually - you only need one or two. Some places westernize it and serve them with ice cream.

Mono, I used to be hesitant to try Indian food, but have grown to love it. Just can't remember the names of everything.

I'm really looking forward to it because I love spicy food and my husband is starting to get into it. Plus, if we don't like it we can at least say we tried it.

Diana, go to India's in Tamarac Square for Lunch - they have an excellent buffet (around $7 or 8) - you can try many dishes including Tandoori chicken, sag panner, Naan bread and chicken curry, daal and some veggies too.
I go once every three or four months when I want some Indian food (I am from India) and they are the best in Denver that I know of. You can try some Indian beer too - Kingfisher or Tajmahal are both pretty good. Have Fun - oh yes, most of the dishes are fairly mild and they do have some pickle to heat up your food if you want to.

Oooh, that sounds great. Tamarac Square, is that on Hampden, east of I-25?

I was thinking of going to this Indian restaurant that's on Arapahoe, east of I-25. It's in the same plaza as Home Depot. I see it every time I drive by through there, I just need to go in. =D

Yes, just a mile or so east of I25 and on a strip mall off of Hampden, its at the back of the old Benihana (closed now). You can do a mapquest or google for directions also to 'Indias'. Have Fun

Ooooh I know where that is as soon as you mentioned Benihana's. We almost went to the other place I told you about, it's called "India's Castle" and I found out they also have a lunch buffett. But chickend out and ended up eating at Sushi Wave instead. I think we'll try it next Friday since I'll be getting off work early. I can't wait.
