Incorporating in Colombia

Does anyone here have any resources? Perhaps a government site or two outlining the process?

The areas of concern are covered in the Colombian Code of Commerce, Book Two, article 98
and following Law 222 of 1995,Tax Code, article 794 and Law 80 of 1993, article 7, Paragraph 3.

Get a good accountant, pay him and he will help you a lot. My experience. joe

There are other threads on this site if you search it. But it's not too hard to incorporate, complying with rules once you are incorporated is quite a burden on a small company, and incorporation is not a step to be taken lightly. I doubt one can fulfil all the requirements for a cost of less than a million pesos a month overheads.

hi getting better, ummmmm we pay our accountant 500k a month for full service on the business, homes, etc..paying all insurances, taxes, accounting of money entering the country, all forms, etc...

You need a legal representative as well, and I think perhaps a revisor(a) fiscal (the accountant may get a colleague to act as that and one of them sign in each function).

getting better,

You don't need a proper legal rep, you can put yourself down or a partner.

I estimate my compliance costs are about 1.3 million pesos a month each for two small companies.

But, I'm going to start making some assumptions here.... Which means I might actually end up making an ass out of myself ..........Thu 04 17, 2008 11:34 am

Yep, it's closer to your estimate of the 1MM, with the limited power of atty. at the law office. They can sign all contracts, installing gas, telephone, internet, i wasn't counting the legal fees......(500k for the atty's/month)...
