I´ve been trying to find out what exactly is the income requirement for taking fiance to the states. Could'nt find an answer at visajourney.com. My sit. is that I collect 14600$ disability (which is permanent) ,a year and it´s non taxable. My assests are at present time, 13000$ in my checking account and 38000$ in mutual funds. I don´t have tax returns to show because I´ve never needed to fill them out. I do have my court document declaring the dis. payments for life, and a hell of alot of paystubs and att. letters and other minor supporting documents. All in all would the above be enough for an o.k. on the visa.?
thanks-

BAQ says on Jul 5, 2007, 13:01: the poverty threshold. In 2007, the govt says that for TWO PEOPLE, if your income is less than 13,690.00 per year, you are BELOW the POVERTY THRESHOLD. Semper Fidelis ! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Robert Jorge says on Jul 5, 2007, 19:01: Baq, you are almost correct. The guideline is 125% of the poverty threshold for 2 people. And to trev233, the exact figure or formula is in visajourney.com. Just download or open the affidavit of support, after clicking on downloadable forms, and it will spell out the requirements. It is a government document. Gator says on Jul 5, 2007, 19:21: The U.S. citizen petitioner must meet a minimum income requirement that is the poverty level set by Congress every February. The current requirements for two people is $13,200 x 125% or $17,120 MINIMUM income . Your income must meet the requirement for a number of dependents that includes you, her and any children of the fiancee who will be receiving a K2 visa and coming to the U.S. In addition, any children for which the petitioner is paying child support and any fomer spouse for which you are paying alimony also count as dependents. trev233 says on Jul 6, 2007, 17:51: Thanks for all the feedback. I did happen to call a lawyer in NY today. He said the requirement is to have 17000 a year or 3x that in assets (51000). I ´m borderline ,he said if i went the way of a cosighner it wouldnt be a problem. And gringold , based on my income i did receive a visa here, so there did ´nt seem to be any problem with But I guess after travelling around the world for the last 10 years I miss the states and want to settle down. For good or bad it´s still home.
