in colombia on Nov.5 2007

I will be in Colombia on Nov 5, 2007, My question to all of you who have done this many times, is........ I have a short layover in Cali i arrive at 11:00 pm and leave the next Morning at 5:55 for Bogota I do not want to rent a hotel for that short a period of time. So what can i do to occupy my time......... any suggestions as always are greatly appreciated ........thx tom

If you need sleep, have the taxi driver take you to the nearest motel, probably about 15 minutes away. Pay by the hour.

If you don't need sleep, go to the Salsatecas in the Juanchito suburb. They stay open later than the ones in Cali. Be back at the airport by 5:00 AM.

Frankly by the time you clear with DAS, Customs and worry about your baggage, factor in travel time(airport is a good hike though that time of night not too bad) then returning in time for security checks, etc., etc., you just ain't got a lot of free time, amigo.

There's a small hotel on the left going into Cali. Like the post above said. You go like you are going into Cali. keep looking left. And you will see a hotel on the other side of the road. The road is split. So then you would have to turn around and go back towards the airport, to turn into the hotel. I don't believe there is much going on at the Cali airport that time of night. Pretty much shut down. Probably be able to go upstairs to Dunkin Donuts and grab a chair/table. Get some beers before everything closes.

As Calikitty said-not worth the effort., Land 11PM, out of the airport by say twelve or twelve thirty, cab to the motel another 30 minututes, leave motel by 4:45am to get to the airport. For three or four hours not worth it.

DAMN, I did not know there was a hotel in the airport. Wendell-where it is located???
