immigration problem

i did the I130 and i also did the I129f
the problem is i am 1 month away from the I129 and the I130 went pass my date as per the web site and me calling ins,
Ins took my info (on the phone call) and told me that they will look into it and get back to me in 30 days about the I130 going pass my date and my application is still pending.
the last date ins posted that they was working on Jan 4 (aprox not sure but it was around there) now they are showing an April date, and my date is Feb 10 for the I130 (Vermont) i think its an error for the April posting date but if it isn't how long does this set me/us (my wife and i) back for them to look into it and correct the problem? Does anyone know?

question I see that I129F is for fiancee and I know that I130 is for a spouse... My question is, what's with submitting the I129F if you're already married? is there something else in the whole process of getting one's wife to the US that I'm missing here???

If you are already married and have submitted an I-130 for your spouse, you can submit an I-129F to get her a K-3 visa. This allows her to come here and either AOS or wait for her I-130 to be processed. This is what we did. Of course now the service centers are speeding up their I-130 processing and Missouri (which handles K-3s) has slowed down to a crawl. You used to be able to get a K-3 fairly quickly but this is no longer true.

K1 or K3? utopiacowboy,

so let me see if i understand...it is now faster to recieve a spousal visa? prior to me going to colombia it seemed that all the post indicated that a fiancee visa was faster...now it appears than the reverse is true...

basically, what is faster...a spousal visa K-1 or a fiancee visa K-3?

junior

ps. is it possible to get married in colombia by a notary public? if so, what do i need?

Right now, the fiancee visa is much faster than the spousal visa. This was not true 6 months ago but it is true now.

K1 is much faster over K3 K1 is the only way to go. K1 processing times are months ahead of K3 right now go to the USCIS website and check out the processing times for your service center for the I129F aka K1 and then the Missouri for the K3. Hope this helped.

processing I'm still trying to figure out how to read those things. All I see is a list of stuff with a whole lot of different dates, non of which seems to be in any type of order except the file names. If someone could help out with this, I'd appreciate it.

It is pretty easy... First go to this website https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp?
and select the service center if you applied for the I-129F or if you applied for the I-130 K3 Visa you automatically use the National Benefits Center Button. After that you look on the far left column to find the type of Application you are interested in and look at the far right column to see what applications they are processing. If they are processing applications in February and your receipt number was in June then you have about 4 more months to wait until you application is even processed, because all they do when you first mail them the application is do a quick look through to make sure you got the absolute necessary items like the $165 and all the federal applications. Checking out your evidence is later when they actually process your application.
