Immigration Application Fees to Rise By 80 Percent

The Bush administration will announce an increase today in immigration application fees of more than 80 percent, federal officials said yesterday.

The cost of applying for naturalization, for example, would rise from $330 to $595, and a required fingerprint check would go from $70 to $80

Fee increases will take effect no sooner than 120 days after they are published in the Federal Register tomorrow, including a 60-day public comment period.

Damm, we need a second American Revolution to go to Washington and kill every bureaucrat and politician there. They're like vermin.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

No revolution this time... Unlike our rebellious ancestors, we would face machine guns, tanks and attack helicopters...

What a bunch of crap ... Penalize people trying to do things the correct, honest way. That really pisses me off. This nickle and dime stuff ends up adding up to several thousand dollars. Except this isn't nickle and dime. That is big money for a lot of people.

Unfortunately They have to Add 1000s Of Immigration Agents, Adjudication and Deportation Officers not to mention those new Border patrol Agents. Not to mention all the support personnel to service these new enforcement employees. I used to work at the south Miami Krome Detention center for a better part of the 90s-BTW, Krome is drastically overcrowded now and need more additions already to the ones they just completed. Its crazy! Now they are close to 1000 Detainees in Krome and its built safely for 500 detainees. These employees are not cheap. That is the sad truth of the matter.Years back we didn't have 12-20 Million Illegals trying to game the US Immigration dept/system required less employees(drastically less)now with all our problems we need many more Government employees. I feel for the immigrants but we, the Citizens, should not be expected to foot the entire bill. As it is now, their fees, even with the Increases, do not cover all related expenses. I feel the Immigrants can pay a few bucks more for services as remittances back to their home countries are in the Billions yearly(mexico and cuba are 2 good examples)Let them spend some of that remitted money here on our system.

I am with MiamiMike Even at thousands of dollars the cost of Immigration is a bargain and then maybe they could provide improved service. In life you generally get what you pay for. At any rate you seldom get more than what you pay for.
