Immigrating 15year old sister? Whats the length?

One of my best friends is about to become a US citizen in about a month. She wants to petition for her mother, father, and stepfather, also her soon to be fifteen year old sister. Does anyone know if all of those cases would come out at the same time or would parents be first to get an immigrant visa? Has anyone had any experiences petitioning for a mother, father, stepfather or underage sibling?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My wife sponsored her parents, they were in the USA within 6 months! This was prior to 9/11. Things have changed needless to say.

At the same time she sponsored her sister, unfortunately she turned 18 years of age before being allowed to emigrate. She was stuck In Colombia for over 6 years. Eventually what worked was to change sponsorship to my father-in-law while he was a resident alien and then when he became a US citizen his daughter was allowed to join the family about 20 months later.

Parents, Not that Bad... To be eligible to sponsor a relative to immigrate to the United States she must meet the following criteria:
She must be a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and be able to provide documentation proving status.

You must prove that you can support your relative at 125% above the mandated poverty line.

If you are a US Citizen you may petition for the following foreign national relatives to immigrate to the United States; however you must be able to provide proof of the relationships:

Husband or Wife;
You are a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old, you are eligible to petition to bring your parents to live and work permanently in the United States.
Unmarried child under 21 years old;
Unmarried son or daughter over 21;
Married son or daughter of any age;
Brother or sister, if you are at least 21 years old; Sister will be at least 8 to 10 years)
Parent, if you are at least 21 years old.

Here is what Immigrations says:

If you are applying to bring your mother to live in the United States, you must file the following with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (please note: if you have been legally adopted, you may not petition for your birth parent):

Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative (if you are filing for both parents, you must file a separate petition for each parent)
A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mother’s name
If your name or your mother’s name is different now than at the time of your birth, you must provide evidence of the legal name change.
If you were not born in the United States, a copy of either
your Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship or
your U.S. passport

If you are applying to bring your father to the United States to live, you must file the following with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (please note: if you have been legally adopted, you may not petition for your birth parent):

Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative (if you are filing for both parents, you must file a separate petition for each parent)
A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and the names of both your parents
If your name or your father’s name is different from the name on your birth certificate, you must provide evidence of the legal name change.
If you were not born in the United States, a copy of either
your Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship or
your U.S. passport
A copy of your parents’ civil marriage certificate
A copy of any divorce decrees, death certificates, or annulment decrees that would show that any previous marriage entered into by your mother or father was ended legally

After talking to her today she has decided not to petition for her father. Her father had some legal problems in Colombia, so she is thinking that it is in her best interest to petition for her mother, stepfather and sister first. She might petition for her father after the others are first approved.

The package she has to file are

I-130 for each one.
Biographical form for all 3.
Proof that she exceeds the poverty line by 125% (If she files for her taxes jointly with her husband, should that be included?
Proof of divorce of her mother
Proof of marriage between mother and stepfather.

What am i missing?

I don't think she has to file an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) with the initial I-130. She will be able to get her parents in fairly quickly but it's going to be a long 10 year wait for sis. They may want to consider doing what Kernow outlined above. Have her parent file for her after they are citizens.

WOW that is going to be a little painful for that to happen. I really doubt that her parents would want to leave her sister in Colombia.

Is it better for her sister to try to obtain a tourist visa, o whatever kind of visa that is easy to obtain?

My friend sees everything she has done as a sacrifice for her and her family to live here. Now that I told her that her sister might have to wait a minimun of 4 years. I feel she will be depressed knowing that

Any other recommendations will be appreciated.

Another option in a year or two is to get married to some rich, pasty-ass bald gringo who wants a toy.

Here's another idea that hardly anyone thinks of! How about they just stay in Colombia, land of their birth.

What makes you think we need your friend's sister, mother, father and whomever else HERE anyway? Tell them to stay in Colombia we now have 300 Million PEOPLE here in the United States and we don't need anymore immigrants! It has got to STOP before our way of life is DESTROYED! The day is coming!

Well, atleast they are trying to come to the US legally. So I really don't know what's wrong with that. If all three can't come at the same time, they won't loose any sleep over it. They rather wait that leave a family member behind.
