If you are colombian or friend of Colombia

Why don`t show it on your Avatar?,, of course sticking with the rules. Just for the sake of July 20th and the march for peace and freedom of all kind of illegal groups captives.

La Pola
Heroine of the Colombian Independence Movement
Policarpa Salavarrieta (c. 1791 – November 14, 1817), also known as La Pola, was a Colombian seamstress who spied for the Revolutionary Forces during the Reconquista, a period when Spain attempted to regain control of its colonies in South America. She was captured by Spanish Royalists and executed.

It all happened very suddenly, They threw a blanket or something over his head, then took him into a house and dressed him in their uniform, with something over his head to disguise his face, for the protection of his family. My Spanish is not that good but as far as I could understand he would be interrogated harshly for a few days then given a new identity and money to set up a new life in a different part of the county. I had the impression, and it could be wrong, that this guy wanted to surrender to a professional regular army unit because he would be much better treated, and that they dont like to surrender to national service people for fear of torture.

billy....this is a REAL aside...but your mention of school outings brought the ice age of my life to mind.

i grew up in a real rural agricultural backwater in california's san juaquin valley. not much culture there. anyway, on our third grade outing, they took us to the local slaughter house. oh boy! we're up on this balcony above the "kill" floor. first thing is they shoot em in the head, next--while they're still kicking--they 'gaff' em in the leg hocks, haul em up on winches, slit their throats--they're still kicking--then, kicking stops, they start skinning em........it continues down until it's just two halves and nothin more, sliding down a conveyor trolly.
'
all this and we're all of about 6 yrs old....................i think the firehouse would have been more in keeping with our age and tenderness....................................
