If Pablo were King…

If Pablo Escobar didn’t blow up that aircraft with the yanks on board would he still be around today and ruling the whole of Colombia as his fiefdom? I also wonder if he would be richer than Bill Gates, I reckon he would. I mean his product would be in higher demand right?

What kind of Colombia would we be talking about today?

I think the outcome would be the same: Escobar would be dead or in prison by now.

Look at the other big shot narcos in Colombia, look at the Italian mafia in the U.S. - if they continue to lead a life of crime, they usually lose their lives or their freedom.

If Pablo Were "Alive"? Fat fucking chance...most likely his ass would have been in the federal pen in Marion, Illinois with Carlos Lehder(sp), who, in turn, having had seniority in that lovely establishlment, would have arranged a very unpleasant and brief stay for Doctor Pablo.

Ploblem is, Miguel, Carlitos is not there... in fact, he is most likely out of jail, after he got a deal with the US government for ratting on cara'epiña. Extradition at its best!

Pablo Let's not forget that Pablo Escobar has his folk status for more than just the criminal activity he was involved in. The man, like it or not, did a lot in shaping Medellin. I suppose you can overlook the bad things when your neighborhood is being rebuilt.

Sr Tertius says on Aug 8, 2005, 12:23:

Carlos Lehder Miguel, this is something I found on the Internet (from answers.com):

"Within weeks of sending that letter in the fall of 1995, Lehder was whisked away into the night, according to several protected witnesses at the Mesa Unit in Arizona. No one has heard from him since. He is assumed to be in the Federal Witness Protection Program.

However, court papers do not show any further sentence reductions. German and Colombian officials say they know nothing about his whereabouts and Justice Department officials refuse to acknowledge that Lehder is in the witness protection program."

Truth is, his whereabouts are not public knowledge, and those that know where he is are not telling. This is not justice, unless you get your sense of justice from watching The Godfather.

hello everyone.... it's been a good long while...nice to see everyone is alive and well.

my family (wife and daughter) are stuck in medellin...fucking das wouldn't believe that my wife is the mother of our daughter. some times those pricks can be so fricken lame.

i was living in poblado when pablo built his 'french chateau' on the hills above envigado. those were the good old days. anyone who thinks it's cool in poblado now is in a dream. back in the late '80's and early '90's it was so wild, if it weren't for being so bloody, one would think they were in a movie set. however, there was something about that crazy meyhem and wildness that can't be duplicated.

now, when we're living there, poblado, medellin in general is so damn boring, i just stay up in llano grande and enjoy 'real' colombia. try it, you'll like it.

peace, everyone,

douglas

DW, when my wife left Colombia with her kids, she had to have a notarized letter from herself authorizing her to take the kids out of Colombia. Sounds absurd but necessary. No notarized letter - no departure. Getting past the DAS on the way out is the toughest part of the trip.

Hello Douglas I thought you dropped off the face of the earth. Glad to hear you are live and well. But for the security factor, I would rather live in Poblado any day over Florida....So how long are you going to be there?

Dull? It's anything but dull. Hell, my wife was on a bus that was hijacked in the middle of the day and everyone robbed. One of the guys kept hitting her on the leg with his gun telling her to sit down. There are still barrios where you will be lucky to leave with your life - maybe you can check them out and tell us how exciting they were.

Lehder in Mesa, AZ? Maybe he embraced Mormonism, which is pretty popular here. Then, maybe he drove up to Colorado City and got himself a couple of 14 year old wives. I've heard it's a good way of "dissapearing". ;)

BTW: I just realized that my Mormon joke may have been a bit offensive. My apologies to the Mormon folk here, no disrespect was meant (although I still think that Lehder may be in Colorado City, he he).
