If anyone asks where I am, I'm having coffee with Don Gringo.

I would never normally associate myself with people who think developing countries are nothing more than their sexual playground.

This is the attitude of men and women around the world who leverage their relative wealth - or perception of it - to get some sort of sexual dividend. They are sex tourists who share this reasoning with other kinds of sex-tourists that enage in illegal activities. While the two types of sex tourists are not the same, they are nonetheless sharing (in part) a reasoning and a mentality, and are thus morally wrong. It causes social harm, damages economic development, and feeds into an evil system which abuses large numbers of Colombian women and children.

I love Colombia. My life here is hard work. I work hard, and I don't mix with foreigners. You guys have made me realise what a great idea it is to continue.

This site is NOT for sex-tourists to compare notes, so I objected, with the reasoning shown above. I have always stuck to this reasoning (as explained above) I have not deviated from it or changed it. As it was in the begining, so it is now.

At no point did I call anyone a paedophile, nor imply that "all" foreign men are evil. I asked about the size of someone's body parts to illustrate a point about offensive references he was making. He got offended. Good. I hope he realises how offensive he has been.

At no point did I espouse or quote leftist or feminist ideology. In fact, I said the opposite. At no point did I say I disapproved of cross cultural dating, marriage or children. In fact I said the opposite. The words you use have ordinary meanings. You can't just apply labels without backing it up, and certainly not to avoid tackling the issue to hand.

What was especially interesting was the level and bitterness and lack of logic - and yes - the emotion in the attacks - and several men came out at I once. Attacks were often made centering on the fact I was a woman, and ignoring the substance of what I had said. Pod and Rubito at least were logical once they had got past their initial (wrong) assumptions, and I offered the olive branch to them, though I doubt we will ever agree, I had hoped that we could find common ground because in spite of our differences I can see they are men of reason.

As for the rest of you. Well. I must really have got under your skin, right. How dare anyone - least of all a girl - challange your motivations?

So, lets call her feminazi, a leftist, imply she is a whore, bitter, fat, jealous - damn, she's pre-empted the lesbian and bra burner labels - repeat the other ones, and repeat them louder. Anything, anything to avoid answering her questions or dealing with her points. The only thing you were right about is that, yes. I am a bitch: but I only at unreasonable bullies and sex-tourists. Otherwise, I am a real sweetheart.

Now, I have a great life here - simple, but great. But life for me is very different from you. Traveling as a solo female and working in the communities I work means that there are no parties, no clubbing, security rules preempt much travel, so what I just hard work, my studies, my freedom of thought, my poetry, my songs, the music, the family and community in Barranquilla I belong to, a glorious country, and a glorious sky. But I knew this before I came here. I am not a tourist - of any kind. I will not talk about my work or about my research here. You cannot be trusted with even getting simple terms right. You are only interest in living silly lives with as little accountability as possible. I can only speak of my experiences, good or bad, and my impressions of this place, and I can't write about all of them, the main one being of course, that you will abuse me or accuse me if I do.

I'd like to point out that any accusation of belonging to political extremes for me, could have ramifications for those I work with, not to mention myself, and so for my own safety, and those around me, I am bowing out. You didn't win, but I have othe r considerations. Colombia is not an escape for me you see. Its real.

I'll post photos of my journey here when I am done, but you can be sure boys, that I won't trouble your delicate sensibilities for while.

For me personally, Colombia taught me patience I never knew was possible, and to relax and just go with the flow. My guess, is that she might be working or volunteering with women and or kids that have been abused, or are trying to get out of the sex trade, or something related. Yes- CA has very outspoken opinions on many issues, and is not afraid to express her viewpoint. I agree with her very little on social issues - but I sure do love seeing intellect at work, no matter the viewpoint. Intellect combined with a talent for prose is a gift more of us should pray for - and she has them, no matter how different from typical PBH opinions hers are.

I'd encourage some of you to review some of the nasty crap you wrote, and think about it. But it wouldn't change anything. If you were smart enough to be embarrassed in hindsight, you'd be smart enough not to have written such drivel in the first place.

Wow CA you certainly had me fooled!! You must have been around the block a few times to have those stats nailed down like that, but as long as it was for free I guess it's ok.

I'm not sure you if realize it but your postings are easily viewed as derogatory toward Colombian women. They scream of, "come to Colombia where the women are cheep and easily had. Flash them your money, your passport, and your wallet and take them any way you will." Just because you sprinkle them with, "It's all your fault you American swine" doesn't make it less of an insult.

But then again, maybe that's what you're really aiming for.

Instead of "with" dont you mean "on"?? When you write "with" as in "once you go down with" instead of "once you go down on" it reads as if you and the other person are going down "on" a divemaster together???!! not sure if that was what you meant or not...same with the second "with", shouldnt it read "on anyone else"?? Completely different scenarios depending on whether one uses "with" or "on"....

I'm sure you're right, but when trying to mix metaphors with seething sarcasm it can become convoluted. ie, you wouldn't really go "down on" a Divemaster if the intent was to have him/her guide you on a SCUBA tour (sort of like a sex tour but with a regulator, BCD, fins . . . ) I did meet a Divemaster in Bonaire I would have gladly gone down on/with, semantics aside. She was hot! Unfortunately, I think she was just after passage to the states so I had to say no. Else risk being accused of sex tourism.

bb - I wouldn't hold it against her. Unless she has her own money / visa . . .

Granted, I don't know you and I have never discussed the matter with you, but I would guess that you were born and educated in USA, lived a great portion of your life there, speak preferably English and have not gone over the wall and live like an average Colombian. How COULD you possibly have a totally different set of morals, values,priorities than other people of your immediate surroundings, from the place you grew up? We do not invent ourselves, or even RE-invent, like some people pretend to do, because this re-invention is only skin deep, just like an extra layer on an onion.

To affirm that you do not share the values and priorities of your fellow gringos (male and female alike ( I do NOT believe that guys are raised up with different paradigms and social codes than girls in your country; they are two sides of the same coin) you'd have have adopted a totally foreign culture and lifestyle, values and priorities that differ drastically from US. ideals, like for example, the basic concept of fidelity in marriage that most western societies still consider the norm, perhaps embrace a different religion, political world-view or economical philosophy.

I saw the man – not a cultural stereotype, which is why perhaps - I am here with a level head on my shoulders. Oh yeah, and he wasn't a "dog".
