Typical What a typical response from a gringo, say Colombia and they immediately think drug trade, and then some people do not want to blame the USA American media? Small answers from small minds I might add.

Fermech and just for you information if you ever thought of becoming a mula USA Americans were the number #1 nationality caught as mulas in Colombian airports in 2006. So no having a USA passport will not help much.

I don't know... ... but when I was in Colombia I really wanted to see a Mexican fast food type of restaurant, a la Taco Bell or even Del Taco. None of those places exist over there and I think they would do well since they are cheap and deelish. Here in Colorado we have a place called Chipotle and it is awesome!!! AND not expensive at all.

Anyway, I had that idea while living in Colombia but then I came back to the States and was hit with a dose of reality. So back to my corporate job I went. =(

Macgringo With gringos around, 95% of the world population suffer from humour bypass.

Esanch36, Colombians with Visa hardly put up themselves for that kind of a job. Last year the nationalities that were detained most with drugs up their ass in Colombian airports were USA, Spain, Italy and Venezuela in that order.

It's rare......but I have to agree with Juanalejo. While we have our disagreements, there is one thing we have in common that is not in dispute, and that is we are both Colombian. He resides in Colombia and I reside in the US. However, there is one sensitive point that I know we both share, and that is when we here people, Gringos and others making jokes about drugs and suggesting that people become drug runners. I am sure there was an element of jest. However, some jokes are best unsaid. At this point, it gets old. There are so many people in the world, especially here in the US, that think Bogota is a big jungle, and anyone that has anything to do with Colombia must be involved in the drug trade. I work very hard to correct that image. For example, in my office, I have one huge pictural of Bogota. Of course I bought it at Libreria Nacional. It is a huge book with many brightly colored photos. People are amazed at what the city looks like. I wish I could find a similar way to get people to realize that Colombia is not a country full of mafiosos, and drug runners.

Maybe people like Juanalejo and I should be more good natured about such jokes? It's just hard, because it is too old already. Try to understand.

Electronics Research what personal electronics have the biggest price differential between the US and Colombia. Bring, say, 2 high-end laptops from the US every time and sell them for more than you paid but less than they'd cost in the US. You could likely make a couple grand per trip that way if you had the right contacts on the Colombian end to hook you up with buyers.

Much better than being a mula.

Sign me up in that club Gman!

Those jokes might have been fresh in the 1980's or 90's, but not in 2007!

fermech, I am a part of a business that is open to anyone and, it DOES BUSINESS IN COLOMBIA; hence,...every trip I make is mostly all expenses tax deductible. If interested in details, send me a personal message.

Where do we go from here?
