Ideas for a Nice Place to Stay in Barichara?

Hey all,

Well we are off to explore Colombia on Monday. Will be in Barichara on new years eve and wondered if anyone knows of anywhere nice to stay there. Double room, private bath, cute and colonial??? Up to $150,000 per night.

I have checked out La Nube and Hostal Mision Santa Barbara, but they want me to deposit money in a bank account up front and I just can't be bothered.

Any suggestions? Also for Giron near Bucuramanga too?

Thanks,
Sally.

My suggestion is the same as Vic's. San Gil is very picturesque and only about 20km away.
If it is for New Years you had better stir your stumps and lock in something now. Requiring that type of deposit for a major holiday in not unusual in Colombia. I will also wager Cartagena is sold out.

BTW, in my personal opinion Villa de Lleva, is better

If you want a quite place, try Guane, next to Barichara.

Thanks guys.

We have already been to Villa de Leyva and are passing through there too on the way to Barichara.

Do you think San Gil will be more fun for New Years?

San Gil will more fun than Barichara......but I think B/managa will be more fun than both

I would head to Buca, without a doubt.

The first and only time and went there was with my husband and family on our way to the coast, we arrived about 7:30, but there were no electricity on the town, it was blackness!! we stayed in a nice hotel in town center , but we couldn't get out, next day we left very early so the only thing I remember from barichara was having dinner by the swimming pool of this hotel with some candles, that's all, because the electricity didn't return until early our of the morning. :(
