I have the same goals as you, but I do not go into bars/clubs. However, I will visit Bogotá for 10 days, and I am still thinking about if I should go to Medellin for 3 days of out 10. My flights are all set, but I having a bit of the problem finding accommodations. I have contacted Suite Real, but I have yet to hear from its staff. I am leaving in mid August, and want to meet people more than anything since I do speak Spanish. I will go to Medellin if anyone recommends a safe hotel to stay for 3 days or 3 nights.

Sorry if I don't have any suggestions since this is my first trip to Colombia, but I will keep an eye or two on this thread. I hope you get some good suggestions, and do enjoy your staying in Colombia and be safe.

sorry i can not tell you places to stay as I stay with family of friends when I go. Medellin is good early August as it is the festival of the flowers, there is a horse parade so take in, a flower show and then the flower parade. it is an exciting time in the city, I was there for it last year and had a nice time, it is easy to make a day trip to Santa Fe Antoqui which is rather rust old Colombia, , my understanding is there are tour trips to here I don't have details on it when I went I went with friends, there is alos a day trip to El Peno ( about 3 hour ride each way) which is a Huge rock you climb the step up( I think there are 6k steps) the views are cool. Bogota is a bigger city and I am sure much goes on there but I haven't been there yet
( going July 17th for about a week)

Suites Real 85 218-0100, Suites Real 97 610-7666 (Both in Bogota)

I also could never get anything accomplished Online. They will NOT respond to Emails. However, a phone call will work, and they are good values if you are looking for a moderately priced, but nice hotel to stay in. 85 is within an easy walk of the zona rosa in Bogota.

thanks, i'm definitely interested in Medallin and Bogata. i've heard so much about Medallin expecially. Guess, i'm really trying to find another purpose to go down there and do something other than just sight see. i work in the fashion industry, and finance, anyone in these industries ?

Thanks, Robert. I already got my reservation confirmation from Suties Real 85 on emal. I did contact someone there via email, for it was odd that there was no required pre-payment to secure my reservation. So now I am waiting for his answer.

Now I need to find accommodations in Medellin if I decide to go there for 3 days. So a nice hotel for under $400 for all 3 days is what I am willing to afford. If anyone has any suggestions, please post them here. I will not make my decision to go to Medellin until some time in July. Thanks

calor...the fashion industry is situated in medellin and there's lots going on there. and as far a s a place to hang and enjoy, medellin. not just for sight seeing, but just for hanging and being. lived there for a number of years and have family there.

personally, bogota sucks. period. it's cold, alien, rude and spread all over the frickin place. medallo has no suburbs. from med, you can visit all the close in pueblos within an hour and enjoy each and everyone. you don'[t have to do bar scenes. the 'colombian way' is really different the moment you get away from the tourist hubs. i can recommend lots of good folks to help you enjoy your hang in med and in all it's surrounds.

I finally got some answers from suites 85. I don't have to pay a dime until I am there. One thing that bothers me is that I will be paying with credit cards when I get there, and I hope the banks will honor my request from Bogota. I will contact my banks before I live here to let them know of this situation. Besides, I want to use my credit while in Bogata for other purchases

I will call suites 85 a week before my departure to let them know that I am ok, and I will be leaving here on the actual date that I told them. Thanks for all the info.
