I need your help..

I know I've been posting alot lately about hotels, but I am just hoping to find the right one. Here is my situation...my family and I will be meeting a 9 year old boy that I sponsor and his family in Bogota at my hotel. I am trying to find one that will either have a pool or be close to a park so that we will have something to do. My choices for hotels are:

Radisson
Mercure Cosmos 100
Casa Dann Carlton
Tequendama
Sheraton
Dann Norte

If anyone could comment on these hotels, tell me which ones u think would be best for my circumstances, and which ones are in safe neighborhoods etc. Thank you!

Indoor pool? Most Colombians, I know, consider Bogota too cold for swimming. Hopefully, one of the hotels mentioned above has a pool inside. Also, because of city being considered cold, does the boy, you are sponsoring, know how to swim. I have found swimming to be one of those things many Colombians dont know how to do, due to the lack of available swimming pools to the public.

However, I could be wrong :)

Between El Dorado airport and Av. 68 Your best choice is to pick a hotel between the airport and Avenue 68, I am not sure if any of them has pool, the area is good for what you are asking, since Parque Simon Bolivar is nearby, El Centro de Alto Rendimiento, where there are swimming lessons, Aquapark, etc, also we got several official swimming pools in the area.

Also consider Where is the family coming from? What are they comfortable with? Many of the hotels you list are WAY in the north of Bogota.

I'm not suggesting you go stay in a hotel in Ciudad Bolivar, but you should just be aware that Bogota is a very big place.

IMHO I will prefer Tequendama because is central. and you have the observatory closer, easy to get to Salitre magico and cici aquapark, monserrate, and centro de alto rendimiento.

.. The family is coming from Suba so I would like to stay closer to the north than the south

Safety Most hotels are in safe neighborhoods, otherwise they will be broke, of course there are vely low level hotels that foreigners wisely avoid and posters here won´t recomend, but for sure there are at least 100 safe hotels in Bogotá, that had not being mentioned on this website.

I would say 75% of Bogotá is safe, leaving some of the violent acts to people who knowingly are in odds moves. It even will be safe for you to visit Suba. It sounds like you just want to meet the family and the boy but not to know the city where they live. Join them on the Ciclovia on Sunday, or let them recomend you places.
