Why the interest ? A Finca is a small rural farm but the defination can be different. Probably better to use English terms on this board.

I see quite a few SMALLER (at least from the road) Fincas for rent outside the Armenia and Pereria area. I believe the owners have moved to the city for safety. Safety for a Colombian is different than safety for a Non-Citizen. The Colombian owners sometimes maintain the crops and livestock with "hired hands". Makes a good place to keep their horses.

How big do people imagine these Fincas? How much money is considered a fair price per week. How close to cities? What about transportation? Need a Taxi? Buses travel by and can be flagged down. Seems a funny choice, although I think the owner of this site rented what he called a Finca around Medellin.

I live in what can be considered a micro-finca. About the size of a standard U.S. house lot. Kind of a chicken ranch.

Maybe I should have the girl start a Finca rental and management company.

Enjoying Armenia Poco you should, I have visited fincas en Armenia before but I have never rented one. I am not Colombian but my Colombian friends call them that. They are big properties with 4 or more bedrooms, pool, Jacuzzi, pool tables, table tennis, mini soccer fields, etc. Like this we go to dance clubs in Armenia and surrounding areas then when they close instead of going to el mirador to hear music, dance, and drink and keep going with the girls. We just go to the finca where we have all the amenities, and there are also beds so if we want to get comfortable we can. Now you get the idea. Every time I go to Colombia I rent a SUV (Burbuja ?). There are also fincas that rent rooms out but I do not want one of them. I want one for myself and my friends I have money and money is not an issue. That is why I got a Master in Accounting, I am a C.P.A., and I have a good career in which I work very hard. Life is short and I believe in enjoying it. Look at my pictures in the picture gallery.

My experience is that Armenia is WAY under discussed and visited. Armenia seems much nicer than Pereria but Pereria is growing faster. Armenia is surprisingly expensive. I believe it is more expensive than Cali but a vacation in Armenia may give a better feel of Colombian life.

When I return a tour of the Armenia farm rentals along with price inquiry is in order.

I think I'll add,, a lot depends on the department (state). Armenia, Pereria and Manizales are the capitals of different departments.
