Hi!
I'm trying to index all the beers that are actually brewed in Colombia. I don't really mind if the breweries are foreign as long as the beers are actually 100% brewed Colombia.
What I'd like from you (if you don't mind spending a few minutes answering me) is this:
- The actual brands names (as shown on the bottle)
- What do you think about the different brands (your personal tasting preferences)
- Anything you can tell me to help me compiling a comprehensive list (I'm less interesting in the history of beer-brewing in Colombia than what can be actually be found on the market in 2008 and what are your personal tastes about those beers).
With my anticipated thanks!

kalder says on Oct 5, 2008, 12:38: I appreciate that Bill, but when someone misspells Colombia on the board it's hardly meant as a slight; it's just an unintentional error. To a phlegmatic chap such as myself, getting all bent out of shape over a vowel in one's nation is inexplicably peevish. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

kalder says on Oct 5, 2008, 12:53: S'true: I had a couple of nice crisp Heinekens at El Dorado and they were so much more satisfying than the local brews. Which was a damn shame seeing as they were three times the price. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

casa_de_norte says on Oct 5, 2008, 13:03: Yes, few places in the world have captured the true essence of beer the way Europeans have... some of the boutique brew pubs in the States have made some tasty beers, but none as satisfying as an English stout.... I am currently trying to drink enough of it to grow Aguila bitch tits to see if they send me a free Aguila bikini

gorgonabob says on Oct 6, 2008, 06:47: i have to disagree that colombians are sensitive about there country being spelled with a u instead of the o... ive never heard a colombian mention that to me.... id say its the foreigners who are sensitive... definitely not the colombians

gorgonabob says on Oct 6, 2008, 06:50: and about the beer. its a disgrace that there is in effect only one company selling beer in colombia... they have just put the prices up by almost 100 pesos per bottle on average again... now im supposed to buy a pilsen for 900 pesos and sell it for 1200 pesos.. woopdedoo. its ridiculous there is no competition in this country... i cant wait for the belgians to set up shop here with there brazilian beer, brahma....it should not be too long. they are creeping upwards.. already made it to peru.. colombia will be next id say

Tinto (Moderator) (Trustee board) says on Oct 6, 2008, 06:50: Make sure to look at the Bavaria web site. Bavaria is now owned by SAB-Miller. Almost all the breweries on Gator's list are Bavaria breweries (tiny brew pubs are the exception). Bavaria had/has something like a 99% market share in Colombia, Panama and Peru. The 1%, I imagine, is shared by brew pubs and imports of Heineken, Budweiser and Corona.

quantum says on Oct 7, 2008, 16:36: Heineken bought the Panama cerveceria and Miller bought Atlas/Balboa from the same rich Colombian dude that owned most of the major breweries in South America. I think the deal was for $9billion if Im not mistaken on that, although I am bad with numbers. If the Brazilian beer is coming to Colombia, I hope they bring the Bohemia, cuz that was my favorite there. I think its the same brewery as Brahma. Club Colombia is pretty good and the Piilsen is drinkable, but on the whole for such a big country with so many people, the beer quality is mediocre at best. Its a busiiness oportunity waiting to happen..........
