I need some info please

I am getting ready to start the visa process and I have a few questions if anyone cares to help me....first is...I was involved with a fight with my brother about 5 years ago. The charges were dropped (he didn't appear in court) and also I have had 2 D.U.I.'s with in the last 3 years. Will this hurt my chances of a visa. I heard they ran a criminal background check on me. Is this true? the second question is....Being lazy and stupid I have not filed my federal tax returns for about the last 4 or 5 years and I have owed money every year. So I owe back taxes.I know I need to file them and I am doing that now with a tax attorney. My question is...will me owing money to the U.S. government hurt my chances for getting the visa? Will that count against me when I show my evidence of support form and will they wait to issue a visa or move ahead until I have resolved the matter completely or set up payment arrangements? I heard the I.R.S. can take up to a year or more on getting back you with on payment arrangements. Do they care about back taxes or just concerned about what I earn at work? Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated. Also, my field office thinga-ma-gig is the Nebraska office. What kind of time frame am I looking at for processing? Thanks....

I’m a Colombian born USA citizen. About 5 years ago in one of my many trips back home I met a Colombian woman from Medellin. Almost a year after our meeting with more visits to Colombia, we started the process by asking for a fiancée visa. I thought that it will take years but to my surprise, within a couple months of putting in the paper work she received a letter in Medellin from the American embassy in Bogotá were she was to bring all the appropriate info required. She went to Bogotá and after meeting with the dude in the USA embassy was told to to come back in the afternoon to pick up here visa. It took a few weeks for her to get ready to head to NYC. Once here we had 90 days to get marry to continue the process for her residency. From what I remember the tax info is very important so is bank and other money statement you might have. As for a police record I ‘m not too sure about, I never got caught in anything illegal I was always very careful and was very weary of ending up prison. With my good looks I would surely end up some big hairy guy’s girlfriend.
Anyway, that’s just a tiny little bit of the ordeal to bring someone here from Colombia. good luck!

I'll get there, when I get there!

"Bigger Fish To Fry" You got to get your tax status worked out first. If you handle you marriage and potential wife with that type of concern you will have problems. I wouldn't even consider bringing in a bride into those type of circumstances. It wouldn't be fair to either of you. I assume you are talking about getting married etc.? You have got bigger fish to fry first . Get your ducks in a row then move ahead. I always put the cart before the horse myself until life taught me some hard lessons. Hope this helps.

be clear and don't lie i am a colombian and got my residency not long ago, they do check our background through the fbi, so if they asked about any of this tell the truth, they know, and yes the first thing you have to do i clear your taxes and pay everything you owe, you have to bring past tax incomes for it, so just make sure that everything is taken care of
