Hey everyone, my roots are out of control and I am looking for a place in Bogota to get blond highlights. My Colombian roommate scared me saying that even the nicest place is gonna mess it up because they are accustomed to my type of hair here, so that's why I need a personal recommendation from someone who's had it done and liked the results (and can tell me how much it cost). I'm kind of poor at the moment so I'm hoping the recommended place isn't too expensive. Thanks so much!

I would just find a beauty school if I were you -if you want to save some money. The students doing your hair will be under the supervision and advice of the intructors. And the cost will be just what the materials cost, plus maybe just a little bit more. I remember Mrs. RJ was charged 80.000 pesos and change the last time we went. And that was 7 hours! For the guys, I recommend a beauty school, because a guy's haircut is free, and you will have lots of nice girls wanting to cut your hair and wanting to chit chat. I've never had highlights done, so I can't recommend a place as such, but maybe going through the biggest ads in the phonebook? That's what I do when I need things, I assume those are the most established business. Nato (='.'=) 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Desideria (Moderator) says on Sep 9, 2007, 11:51: I got my hair messed up pretty bad in Cali in one of the cheap places int he barrios. It's true that they are not used to doing soft, blond, fine hair and if not truly professional, tend to use too much bleach and too strong stuff on that kind of hair. "When shall we three meet again? edawg217 says on Sep 9, 2007, 17:54: Sorry, I meant to say "unaccustomed." And yeah, Desideria, I think you understand exactly what I'm saying. I do have "soft, blond, fine" hair (it's not as sensual as it sounds) and it's easy to mess up.
