Also what is the main leisure activity that Colombians particapate in? I would really appreciate all of your help!! Any input would be appreciated! Thanks for your help!!
I may have to ask some more questions later!

I'm not Colombian either but you'd have to make a distinction between older and younger people. They don't necessarily do same things on their free time. Older people watch TV, spend time with their families, shop, talk on the phone, party.
Younger people party, go to the movies, practise sports, watch TV, hang out with their friends, go to the malls...does this sound familiar?

Then there are people who don't have any free time because they work or study all the time; there are also people who can't afford to have any leisure.

Cheers,
Desi

I was going to mention tejo - obviously somebody beat me to it. I would add going with family on Sundays to a river or pool to swim, relax, and cook-out.

What I frecuently do - I like to go to the malls on weekends with my girlfriend to eat something or drink a beer or coffee,or just watch people (girls)
- go to the movies
- play soccer with my friends on Sundays
- watch soccer
- party on Saturdays (not all, but when I can)
- less frecuently now, play winning eleven on the ps2 ( most colombians don't have last generation video game consoles yet).
- upload photos to flickr, and check other sites.
- and have sex ;)

The ones that have them go.... to their fincas or ranches on the weekends. Others go to the country clubs and many go to the local rivers and picnic with their famalies and friends.

Soccer or balompie is the mayor sport in Colombia, here is a picture from EL Tiempo main newspaper in Colombia. It shows players at the national championship going out to the field with ruanas a traditional chothe used in cold regions.

The wearing ruana guys (Boyacá Chicó) won the game 1-0 against Millonarios

Tejo is somewhat similar to horseshoes in the US. The video posted shows "mini-tejo". Real tejo requires a long open area maybe 100 feet long. At each end of the aisle is a angled open box filled with wet, soft clay. The boxes are roughly 3 feet wide by 4 feet tall, and with the opening angled at 45 degrees. In the center of the clay, is a almost buried steel tube opening. It is slightly larger than the tejo piece, around 8 inches in diameter. On the top and bottom edges of the tube are placed an explosive, paper triangle called a mecha. Then, the object of the game is to play to a certain number of points. Points are won by: The person throwing the tejo closest to the center gets a point. If a person hits a mecha, that is worth 3 points and that turn is done. If a person gets the tejo in the exact center of the tube, without the tejo touching the sides of the tube, they earn 6 points (I think?). The tejo is a round steel disk, quite heavy. Tejo parks and clubs have all kinds of weights available to chose from, like a bowling alley has different balls. The mecha is what makes the game real fun in my opinion, because the explosion is definitely attention getting. Sometimes, the explosion is deafening, Lots of smoke, a little bit of fire, bits of clay spraying. I think drinking Aguila or Costena cerveza is mandatory while playing tejo. The video posted above gives you a good idea, but that is pretty tame and looks like a couple of lady folk playing mini tejo.
