I need help on my 1st trip to Colombia.

hi all,
I'm new to this site. My names John and I'm 23 years old. I'm going to Banranquilla primarily for business because i work for my father but while i'm there I would mind hooking up with a local if shes worth it. My friends keep telling how amazing the women are so im going to see what the big deal is. I've never really met someone of latin origin because here in the UK there are hardly any if not no latinas. Its seems there are alot of people writing discussions of older men for younger women but what about younger men for young women? do women generally pick older guys over younger ones?

Gringos no need to worry about picking up girlies in South America.

You'll find all the nuances from pros, semi-pros, freelancers, part-timers, occasionnals, temporaries, weekenders, fortuitous, golddiggers, bluediggers (from the passport color), mercenaries, and all the some-in-between ......

:)

And happily, many others.

do women generally pick older guys over younger ones? You're joking right?

I can't believe people read this site and get so confused. Women (in Cali) generally pick guys they are attracted to regardless of age.

I'm 42, six foot tall and weigh 200lbs. I'm no pretty boy but I'm in great physical shape. If you are 23 five foot six and weigh 180lbs you are not going to be much competion for a guy like me that is almost double your age.

Personally I think the kiss of death is being a wimp and by the way your question has given me cause for concern. As much as women down there say thay don't like a macho guy they really do have a low tollerance for insecure guys.

Or as go2pr says:

"You'll find all the nuances from pros, semi-pro, freelancers, occasionnals, temporaries, weekenders, fortuitous, golddiggers, bluediggers (from the passport color), mercenaries, and all the some-in-between ......"

You can resolve yourself to thinking of women as nothing but trash and forget about buying a flower for your date or even being the least bit charming.

Make you upset if I portray your little fantasy world in an unfavorable light ?

Nope Feel free to portray your world anyway you like.

It doesn't sound like you have been to my world yet. If you like I can show you around a bit. I'll be in Cali March 10th. It could change to March 4th. I'll let you know. Just don't be calling my girlfriend a whore and you'll do alright;-)

Before this goes too far Please note: This is not a dating site or a how-to-meet Colombian women site. Elsewhere on the internet there are at least three, free websites devoted exclusively to that purpose.

Thank you

Calipro... I generally avoid other tourists (especially Americans), when I travel, and I’m not in need of a “guide”... (Although good advice is always welcome).

However, it just so happens that I'll be in Cali from March 3 to the 14th and you do seem to know a few Calenas presently, whereas I, at the moment, know precisely none... so let me know if you’re going to be in Cali then... sorry Tinto...

Albatross I can tell you for sure that I will be in Cali from the 10th thru the 21st of March. I already have the time off and the ticket bought. I'm going to try like hell to get down there a week earlier because Traveler is staying at Pete's place and I want to shoot some models with him.

You can call me at 602-290-7100 or email me at: calipro2004 at aol.com. I can also give you my cell phone in Cali 310-372-1343. It's on the blink but I'm hesitant to get rid of it. The last time I was down I bought 50,000 peso of minutes and it never ran out the whole time I was there and I talk on the phone all the time. At one point it had up to 150 minutes.

Kwame Charles, go, have fun, be cool, the people are awesome (both guys & girls), the music's hot, the beer's cheap, aquadiente rocks, forget about age, don't pick fights..hahahahaa (just teasing), but the most violent thing that I saw in Cartagena (I know you're not going there but I think where you are going is fairly touristy as well?) was a lady that was hammered out of her mind fighting with some kid in a night club. i've seen a heck of a lot worse after a night of clubbing in downtown toronto, just bring your common sense with you.

PS: You don't sound insecure at all to me, based on reading these discussions myself, I would have come to the same conclusion about older men/younger latinas. Seems to be a common theme on here.

Wussup Kwame C? I've only been one time, but I didn't see any violence whatsoever, just a bunch of people all dancing the same dance when they got lit. Hahaha!!! But then again, I tend to be a friendly person until the opposite is warranted. As far as the guys and gals thing, I don't think it matters if you're old or young as long as you got something going on for yourself other than treating women like crap. The latinas in that town do seem to have a thing for gringos though. Enjoy!!!

you lucky gringo bastard! you guys have it made in the shade, colombianas love you long time. i have to stick a $50 dola bill on my forehead to get any attention.
barranquilleros are too busy getting drunk and dancing for any of that violence that you see in other parts of colombia.

I'll get there, when I get there!

Hi john, 23? John, I have no reason to doubt you but I think there is a hidden agenda here. When you say that there are no Latinos in the UK? In your words "because here in the UK there are hardly any if not no Latinas". (Latinos)

Tell me, are you living on an otherwise uninhabited Scottish island, or in prison?

In every city and town in The United Kingdom there are hundreds, sometimes thousands, and in London alone there are over 500,000 people of Hispanic origin.

"I would mind hooking up with a local if she's worth it". Not so sure that I like the intonation of that phrase.

"do women generally pick?" Sorry, I think I have misinterpreted that, You are talking about looking for a puppy dog?

"My friends keep telling how amazing the women are so im going to see what the big deal is" Again, I cannot get this, Where did all your friends gain the information about all these hot chicks? Have they all been to Colombia? Girly magazines? What?

With your outlook on things, What line of business are you (your father) in ? certainly not the Diplomatic Corps. He is going to send you to Colombia on a business trip? Pull the other one!

Listen. Just say what you mean and cut the BS. you are going to Colombia to find a girl for some reason known only to yourself.

Yes the girls are fantastic, and if you get lucky you may find one who will be what you are looking for, whatever that is. If you just want to get laid, no problem. If you think that all the girls are as free with their favours like a lot of the English girls are, think again.

Being of unsound mind and dubious disposition, I cannot be held legally liable for any indiscretions."¡El diablo me hizo hacerlo!" But don't worry, be happy.

MR James VH. Perhaps I didnt explain myself well enough. I don't know what part of England or the UK you come from but where I am from I can safely say there are no hispanics living there. There are some white people like myself, some people of indian or pakistan origin, some blacks like my mate david whose going with me to colombia to close this deal but no hispanics. I dont know how familiar you are with geography but I live in Henley, near Reading. A very small town not a village, very quite, very peaceful and hardly any violence (I mean the local police close at 5:30). The only two people closist to latin origin I have ever met is from one lady from Spain in Almera and a man from Portugal that owns the fish and chips shop. Now I do know of one chap that called Mike Grojer and his friends that went to BOgota and cali for holidays. I personally have always wanted to visit a South American country but I have never had the time or excuse to go because of my line of work. I am a Roman Catholic as well so it would be nice to visit a country that is catholic and observe and get to know how there culture is. Now I never ever hear good things about colombia especially from the news and that has caused alot of fear. but since i joined this forum it has eased some of that fear. Now i did say I am going there because of business which is true. We are a Venture capital coropation called Collins LTD which give loans or capital to people all over the world who need it and in return they give us a high percentage of their. shares. It is not all about women(I mean i have not like secretly joined a dating agency and is just asking questions). I am going there with a business partner and a friend and I am concerned mostly for him because he is black and I'm not to sure how tolerent or intolerent they are for coloured people. Its not like here in England where by you can put some one in jail if they come out with racist comments. I wanna make sure he is taken care of. Since we are going to be there for a while and since Mike has told me such wonderful things about the people and women then why should we halt ourselves from trying to make another woman happy if I can.

Kwame Charles There is rasism in Colombia, certain areas are worse than others, but you are going to Baq, which is on the coast whre there are more black people. Generally its not the same sort of in your face rasism as you will find in the UK, its more related to many black people finding it harder to get better jobs and things along those lines, so this is not going to affect your friend.

Your friend being with you and probably not wearing clothes similiar to the locals, will get about a similiar amount of attention as you.

Kwame Charles OK, the picture is much clearer now. I still think that you need to make your meanings clearer when you post. What you have just said contradicts your original post.

I live near Oxford for the time being, not far from you in fact and I know Reading very well. I also know there are lots of Latino people in Reading.

However never mind that. Go to Colombia and enjoy yourself but one word of advice. Do not mention to anyone that you are involved with Venture Capitalism, you will be a welcome as a foreskin in a synagogue.

Also don't give out personal information on the internet, like company names etc.

Barranquilla Hi Charles. I just went to Barranquilla last November. What else would you like to know about the place? I enjoyed it very much, although some Colombians from other regions seem to have a disdain for the city. They consider it to be hot, but I think that's just because air conditioning is not very common down there. Here in the states, people often vacation on the coast and retire there as well because of the temperate climate. Someone in one of the other threads sarcastically told me that Colombians don't even vacation there. I wonder if he realizes that a lot of people other than Colombians do vacation there. Oh well, if you want to test my logic just look at the exchange rates and it will become obvious that there are a lot more US Dollars in Barranquilla. Exchange your money in Bogota, where the Colombian peso is much more predominant. The difference in the exchange rates is pretty profound. ;-)
