Cheap way to call colombia QVO ,

I work for Telecom Company In New York , and from my experience the best card for your buck is IDT card . But there's a few things I know that you should watch out for with any calling card " use up all your minutes in the same day". What allot of this company do is trim minutes per day from non usage .

Hope I helped you out Ciao Andres

Do you have internet ? In that case then you should download "skype". It'll cost you between 3 and euro cents a minute (6 if you call mobile numbers)!!!! I don't think you can find any cheaper solution. It works also with 56K modems.

Check This Site: This site, http://www.10-10phonerates.com/index.html, has a ton of information. Both to and from the USA. Take time to read it carefully and know the ins and outs. As some posters have pointed out you can really get ripped with hidden charges and expiring minutes if you are not very careful.

For calling cards try this site-it does much the same: http://www.calling-plans.com/international/

ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT!

A la orden,

Gator

IDT - Exactly Correct Andres advice is good advice !!!! IDT calling cards give you the best bang for the $$$ and deliver what they represent. I have tried dozens of other cards. Go to IDT's subsidary company website at http://www.uniontelecard.com and run a search for Colombia. Try the Purple card or the Super Quick cards which is pin-less. VOIP can be free if both parties have internet connections.

The phone company I have is cheap. I have a company that is called Vonage that provides my phone; is over the internet so it will work only if you have High speed internet. Price is really good only $0.06 a minute to Colombia and no extra charge in the US and Canada. Their website is http://www.vonage.com/ The monthly fee I believe is $30.

Vonage is good and the .06 cents covers just Bogota and Cali as Medellin is .09 cents and cell phone rates are higher. $30.00 is for unlimited use but if your call volume is lower the rate can be as low as $15/month for 500 minutes with international calls, toll free calls and Vonage to Vonage calls not counting against your 500 minutes. Put a Vonage phone in Colombia and you can talk for free (no minutes charged).

Yes I didn't want to go that far, but in fact that is what I did, took the modem to Colombia and we talk as if I am or they are calling whithin the US. =)

INC Card I've been using the INC card and it reliably gives me 85 or 90 minutes for a $5.00 card. Connection is pretty good but it seems to lose its value quickly (high connection fee?) if I make multiple calls on the same card. I typically will use the whole card up on one call. I think I'll try the IDT card next to see if I get more minutes from it.

daily rate Sometime ago, I read on one of the posts on this site that you could get basically unlimited time for a day using a specific card. Can't remember what the restrictions or requirements were, but if the individual who made that post is reading this, sure would appreciate you giving us an update on that phone card

Voice over Ip the way to go Good morning Carocame
In order to get cheap or even free calls to Colombia from any other country in the world, using the internet, a broadband connection is required most of the time.

Nowdays prepaid card are sold in Colombia, so calls to the usa will cost 100 pesos colomianos per minute, 1 USD 10 dollar card would last more than 250 minutes.
For free calls what is needes is a special device on each end, one gateway and and acount on services like freeworld dialup.

Also you could make phone calls to a united states number with the call been answered in Colombia.

I agree VOIP is the way to go. I just got it and apparently, I could get another modem, and if my girlfriend in Medellin plugs it into her high speed internet connection, it would be a local call for me to call her on it, and for her it is a local call for her to call anywhere in my area code, however if she made any calls to Medellin, it wold be an international call

The fee for the basic service is about $20 (cdn) per month for each modem.

I really like Nobelcom.com I use Nobelcom at www.nobelcom.com.

You can purchase the “cards” on-line and they will send you the pin number and access numbers via email.

I think the best card options are the ones with “1 second” billings. The per-minute rate is a bit more, but you don’t have to deal with connection or weekly maintenance fees.

The cards are usually good for 90 days from purchase.

I've been calling friends in Colombia, and the $50 1-Second Colombia card has been good to me. It is only about $0.08 per minute to a cell phone and cheaper for a regular line.

this is better Noblecom has a subsidiary called EnjoyPrepaid.com and it is even better. Get the EZ Plan with one minute rounding, because not only does it have none of those stupid fees that all those cards have, but the minutes do not have an expiration date. I have tried everything and this is the best. Being a reseller, the connection quality is sometimes not perfect, but I find it just fine. And only 6 cents to Bogota.

By the way, NEVER EVER use those dial-arounds like gator was recommending on 1010phonerates or whatever it was. Not only is the rate higher, but you have to pay all the taxes that go with it.
