It was ALOT OF GOOD EXCHANGE, more from some newer folks on PBH.
It remained Very Positive...Looked like they all had fun.

I was up somewhere around 4 am, and was writing in some other posts. Usually, I'll start from the bottom and work my way up to the top of active posts, so I didn't see that thread until very late.... just about the time the posters went to bed.

AND... THE POST DISAPPEARED... WHILE I WAS STILL UP.
I WAS searching FOR IT... SCANNING THE FIRST TWO PAGES OF ACTIVES...
.... Nothing to be found.

My best estimate was it was deleted because it talked about 'colomiban women'.
MODS???

Otherwise, it was.... ONE OF THE MORE POSITIVE AND FUN POST that I have seen here in ahwile.... even if it is was talking about colombianas.

Now, I wish I'd 'copied' it, so I could paste it back again.
So, why doesn't The Third Reich fess up and say why it was deleted???

I'M ASKING FOR RE-POSTING OF THE SAME.

Individual posts can be deleted - several from one abusive poster were deleted from a travel thread of mine recently - but as I understand it the process is slow and arduous. The mods made the effort in that one particular case because the entire thread was excellent except for this one person, so it was worth the mod's time. As I understand it though that's the exception, not the rule.

Locking the thread would be the next best choice.

Well the only thing I can say in Peter's defense is that I've seen threads like last night's that turned ugly FAST. That's pretty much where I got my stereotype post from, past threads like last nights, from a few years ago. So, maybe that's where his train of thought was when he deleted it? He probably got to the 2nd or 3rd comment that said something really nasty about why the poster likes to date Colombian women because of what they do on the first date, and hit the delete button.

PS: I still think that individual comments should be deleted as opposed to the entire thread :)

I agree 100% Mods have a life too and can't spend reading ALL the comments of ALL the threads.

We should facilitate their task with the FLAG comment (and abusing this feature should be reprehensible too).

If you have somme interesting ideas/comments about what is indeed a serious problem, might I suggest to post them in this new thread? http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/post/the-future-of-pbh/ (started by Peter JUST so that we could solve this kind of problems...)

Multiple accounts.

You are not allowed to have multiple usernames. It makes conversations harder to follow and undermines the trust in this community.

Actions:

* We will ask you which username you would like to keep. We may delete your account.

Blatant advertising

It is ok to mention your services (hostel, travel guide, ...) if it's relevant to something somebody is asking. It's not ok to post repeatedly with advertisments of your service.

Examples:

* Repeated posts pointing to your own website where you provide a commercial service.

Actions:

* We will delete the content.
* For repeate offenders that really don't want to stop, we may delete their account.

Trolling.

Some people just enjoy starting trouble. They'll intentionally post false or controversial material, usually worded in a provocative manner, just to get others to pay attention to them. This is known as"trolling" and is regarded by some as an art form. We disagree. We think it is dull entertainment for simple minds. We prefer to ignore the trolls until they crawl back under their bridge, and we would prefer that you do likewise.

Actions:

* Trolling is a serious offense and undermines the community. When we find trolls, we will delete their account.

Spam.

Numerous (nearly) identical, unsolicited content items are posted.

Examples:

* Posting the same message via personal messaging to many people.
* Posting the same message on multiple forums, without consideration for the topic of the forum.

Actions:

* We will delete the content, and we may delete the account.

Threats.

When a user feels threatened by content posted by another user.

Examples:

* Posts stating: "I will find you"

Actions:

* We will delete the content, and we will warn the person posting the threats.
* We may delete the account of the person posting the threats.
* If the threat is clearly satirical or it is somehow clear that the poster has neither the ability or the intent to carry out the treath, we won't act.

Moderation.

When moderators see someone breaking the rules, there are a bunch of actions they can take.
Demoting content.

For mild violations, the moderators can demote content. It stil exists, but isn't shown in lists anymore. You can find demoted content in your own profile section, where it's still listed.
Deleting content.

For more serious violations, moderators will delete the content. They will also usually send a warning the the person who posted it. Deleted content cannot be un-deleted.
Account deletion.

When members continually or seriously violate the rules, their account can be deleted. We will inform the person of the deletion. Deleted members are not welcome to sign up again.
Asking questions about moderation.

The forums are not the right place to ask questions about something the moderators did (like delete your post). Instead, send a personal message to a moderator.
