I just can't beleive how cheap are plane tickets are in Colombia

I bought a Bogota-Popayan-Bogota plane ticket for only COP 12,000 with Avianca. That's about six US dollars.

You just can’t beat that.

Londoner,

Avianca does not make money:

You need to look at the "promociones" in Colombia or the "paquetes" that include plane and hotel to get the best deals.

Or try buying the same tickets in reverse. Bogota to Dulles - Dulles to Bogota. 200 to 300 dollars more than Dulles to Bogota - Bogota to Dulles. Same airline same day.....

There is a Colombian tax on tickets for flights originating in Colombia of about $250.

So Tasco you got that deal by also purchasing a hotel stay with the airfare?

Medellin- Bogota is more expensive than Bogota-Medellin.

But cudos to tasco for being the FIRST person ever on pbh NOT to complain about prices being high.

Just because you have been to Colombia, that does NOT mean that you are anywhere near an expert on the place. Sorry. Truth hurts.

Med to SM can be had for 59 k with aires if you book far enough in advance; with taxes = 137,000 each way - compared to 600,000 for aerorepublica. What was your price after taxes?

I just flew Aires from Bogota to Manizales, and they said the Manizales airport was closed and it was not. Sunny clear skys. I saw the airport and the turned us around and dropped us in Perieira, and made us wait two hours and then put us on a bus.

I was supposed to get to Manizales at noon and got their at 630 pm.

I find airplane tickets in Colombia rather expensive, unless there's a special promotion. I've never paid less than COP 98.000 for a one-way ticket Bogotá - Popayán... and only because there was a special promotion on Avianca _and_ Aires at the time. So, excuse my doubts, how on earth did you pay COP 12.000 for a return ticket between those two cities?

On or about October 7th I flew CTG, BOG, MDE for 105.000 pesos, tickets bought Online, with Aires, using a US credit card. It was the same price as bus fare, or maybe a couple pesos more expensive.

That is the teaser price quoted before taxes, surcharge etc...

The final price was obviously higher:

Tarifa: COP 12,000
Impuesto a las ventas Nacional: COP 11,200
Impuesto aeroportuario Nacional: COP 22,700
Cargos por seguro/combustible COP 58,000

Total: COP 103,900

Still a good deal.
