I got my notice of approval for my I-130

I got my notice of approval for my I-130 so I guess it's time to file my I-129F to get my wife her K-3 visa.

The instructions for the I-129F seem to be geared toward the filing of a K-1 fiancess visa.

What kind of documentation is required when you are filing an I-129 to get a K-3 visa?

Yes -- you can send in the I-129F application and supporting documents as soon as you recieve the NOA1 for the I-130.

The I-129F application form is the same for both K1 and K3 petitioners. The only difference is that K3'ers imply "spouse" wherever "fiancee" is written.

You really need to read through the DETAILED guides for the K3 process at VisaJourney.com --- it's the best source of pre-compiled information I have found.

cali, if you've finally gotten the 130 approval, you're only about 6-7 months or less out from finishing up the whole process. by the time you send the 129f, and they process it (depending on the office it goes to, up to 6 months), your wife could be getting a cr-1 visa, and you won't have to bother with the extra paperwork and expense to change her status when she gets here. some see it as a way to get a spouse here quicker, but call me cynical, i see it as a way to seperate us from another $170+, and gum up the works with even more paperwork...

Another thing is to make sure that you are using the NEW I-129f form. It just came out on 6/15/06. You can download it at www.uscis.gov.

If you use the old one you will get an RFE (requesting further evidence) because the new form has additional questions regarding a new law (IMBRA).....

cali, before you file anything with the 129f, check out my other post "word of warning..." about what you will run into cost-wise. you're going to be looking at around $845, that includes the $170 cost of filing the 129f.
