PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post

I can guess your age based on the number of times you log onto PBH a day!

1. First of all, pick the number of times a day that you log onto PBH everyday (more than once but less than 10).

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold).

3. Add 5.

4. Multiply it by 50.

5. If you have already had your birthday this year, add 1758. If you haven't, add 1757.

6. Now subtract the four-digit year that you were born. You should be left with a three digit number.

The first digit of this was your original number. (I.e., How many times you log onto PBH daily).

The next two numbers are YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES it is!)

pick a number from 1-10 - double it - add 8 - divide by 2 and subtract the number you first thought of - your answer is 4.

These are fun but old. Sorry I'm crabby.

Remember. the amount of times is limited to 10.. for a reason, because it is small, a rounding error, given the size of the other numbers. Its just a fluke in the math..... No magic, just algebra!

cheers!!

Fluke in Math? I don't think so. Because you introduced the year you were born into the equation when you subtracted - you are constanly subtracting your birth year from this current year 2008. 2008 minus the year you were born will always be your age. Multiplying the amt of times you post on PBH by 100 just puts the "3" in the hundreds column - this is why the initial number bneeds to be less than 10 - so that there can be something left over in the hundreds column. Let's say you log in every other day so the amt of times per day is .5

Math is amazing.

My point, rocinante- how many times you logged on doesn't matter..It is just how the algebra works out....fun stuff

How many times you logged in, if omitted, would make the sequential instruction of "subtract your birth year from 2008 and the result will be your age" a bit obvious.

I will admit these are really fun.

Here's a good one:

3 ladies on vacation at a German beerhaus in Bavaria order one each of the house special beers from the waiter and ask to pay immediately in cash - the round costs 30 euros and they each hand over ten.

When the waiter gets back to the bar the bartender informs the waiter that the 3 ladies were over charged - the cost was 3 house specials for 25 euros - happy hour. So the bartender gives the waiter 5 euro change. The waiter on his way back to the table thinks these ladies can't share 5 euros evenly so I'll keep two and only give them back 3.

Each lady receiving 1 change only paid 9, X 3 = 27 plus the 2 the waiter pocketed = 29

Where is that last euro?

30-5=25
2 to the waiter leaves three
25 3=28
waiter gets 2
28 2=30

rounding error? haha
interesting math!
