I am not Colombian...but

I love Colombia sooo much. It seems I cannot ever have a trip to Colombia where I am not welcomed with open arms and lot sof hugs and smooches!

My dream (and now fully thought out plan) is to have a house, 2 horses, a jeep , a doberman pincher and a beautiful Colombiana remindinh how much she loves me every-time teh sun greets us in teh morning thru our bedroom window.

I still love my country USA, and my neighborhood..Brooklyn, New York...but I have never lived life so happy, and now my dreams are filled with hope, that is until the day I landed in a beautiful friendly land called Colombia - yo tambien te amo!

Is anyone feeling me? 'aight!

It seems that in South Florida (Fort Lauderdale/Miami), gringas my age or a few years younger are interested in African American men with gold teeth and basketball Jerseys, driving Impalas w/ 26" chrome rims that spin; not black hair, tan skin guys with Spaniard/Italian roots.

Damn mad lion, i'll be pissed off too. Your situation is like what I go through in Colombia. Colombian girls hate my Indian ass, is all an inferiority complex thing they are brought up with, too long to get into here. In my prime, back in the days, I was getting it for free all over the place, but in Colombia I only got a glace after they knew I was from USA. Colombia is the perfect place for you, and you’re right, here in the states, brothers are in big time. My daughters and their beautiful light Hispanic girl friends only go for real dark Latinos or blacks. I got a daughter, her mother is gringa, and she’s blonde, only goes for Dominican guys, and those guys are mostly black Hispanics, Pedro Martinez, Sammy Sosa, etc. They don’t like Colombians at all, especially Uribe looking Colombians.
I'm posting a pic of my half guajiro half gringa daughter.

Gringa-Colombiana - I truly did not mean any insult on my posting about the visa question - seriously. As I mentioned, my spanish is not the greatest, so I did not know wether Mark was implying for this poor child to start off on the wrong foot by recommending a fraudulous marriage. Like you, marriage is sacred, not a game or chance to take advantage of someone.

I knwo thsi Cuban-American guy who started an aggrement with a girl from Venezuela strictly for papers. Now, thsi is one of the coolest and nicest guys you will ever meet - just not too smart.

Anywho, after about 6 months - they did the forbbiden dance, and I'm not talking about the Lambada here folks (Remember that one everyone). Now, he is in love, and she is just using him. It pisses me off big time to see stuff like this happen all the time.

I'm certain you are a classy lady and carry yourself as such. Thanks for the compliment above, I am a New Yorker! I just moved to my Pethouse Condo in Sunny Isles Beach, FL. (Near Aventura) in February '04.

I hear you, man! I know exactly what you mean. Here in the US, 'esas gringas creídas' almost never give me any looks either and I don't consider myself a bad-looking guy, but I do get looks all the time in Colombia. Since I'm colombian, I think it's only logical that my own people will appreciate my hispanic looks more than those snobby gringas. With colombianas who live in the US, I've had mixed results. I have better luck with the 'recien llegadas' (those who have recently arrived) because when a colombian woman becomes (north) americanized', forget it, they change, and not always for the better! 'Recien llegadas' are great because they still possess that friendly, warm colombian charm which we love so much. Of course there are exceptions, but I'm just speaking from my experiences. Although I must admit the problem with the 'recien llegadas' is that they might be after you for that much prized green card, so you gotta be careful.

colombiano x I hear you as well..luckily, in Miami - I find tons of "recien llegada" girls from all over South America..and THEY ARE THE BEST!!!! Just 3 days ago, I met a Colombiana from Cali who was just breathtakenly GORGEOUS! She did not speak a word of English, and I immediately knew she was a sweetheart because of her recien llegada status in Miami.

I don't know, but as soon as she becomes "north americanized" I think the magic in her eyes, and warmth in her smile will cease to exist. At which point, I hope to have discovered another "recien llegada!"

Well, since KAT1 has broken my heart by being married, I guess I will call this Calena tonight and see if she wants to go see a movie with a great spanish translator - me ;-)

As Gringa stated, your soup sounds like ajiaco. There's a very nice Antiqueno restaurant in front of Unicentro on Calle 127, I believe, that gave a great Colombian comida experience. I will look for the name of it and pass it on.

By the way, I'm from BK (Brownsville) and now live in Stone Mountain, GA. GT sux!!! LOL! j/k. Small world on this site. At some point, I plan to link up with Elmo in NYC.

Save the Wildcats says on Dec 2, 2004, 16:50:

No, I'm not "really hot" for an Indian looking guy, they just turn my head usually. There's a difference! I don't want to misprepresent myself as a pantie-dropping hoochie just because I like to look occasionally! Besides, if I got on all fours within 50 feet of Elmo, my husband would arrest us both, or kill us, and maybe not in that order! And Elmo's testicles wouldn't need realignment anymore, they'd be surgically absent. Sorry, I'm just not worth the risk.

Besides, I'm really adore intellectual types. I suppose that doesn't help my case any, because I've always believed Elmo is a frustrated Wall Street broker. Seriously.

Have also wondered about Elmo Stringing us all along in this most entertaining of all ways. Not sure if I'd care to find out if he is real or not, he's that interesting. Can you imagine, if he were fake, it's like an ongoing interaction with a great actor.

Elmo, there is a London Bridge in London tho it's not the one we think it is in 2 ways. First, most foreigners think that the tall 2-towered bridge in London, is London Bridge (that one is actually called Tower Bridge), and second, there have been several "London Bridges" spanning the site since Roman times, one of the previous bridges was moved to the Arizona - hence Kernow's comment.

Mad_Lion,

I love Colombia, I have 99% of my relatives there and could probably live there quite happily, but the land (literally) that I have been born to is a huge piece of my soul. It's impossible to articulate how I feel about this place.

Even tho I may live in Colombia and other places (I have a severe case of wanderlust), I am certain that I will return home someday to my beloved temperate rainforest, rugged coast and mountains.

Great topic though
