I-134 or I-864

I am being proactive and would like to get all of my paperwork done so that when it's time I can just send off. Does anyone know which financial support form the consulate in Bogota requires? The I-134 or the I-864. Thanks so much for your help!!!!! :)

You know -- I don't know! I think you will need to determine which visa you are trying to get. Are you married and going for the k-3? or is this for your fiancee? (which by the way, these are BOTH considered non-immigrant visas)...

I have been meaning to find the answer to your question myself! I am fairly certain that the requirements for which form to use should be found at the embassy in the foreign country (ours is Bogota, Colombia). Anyway, here is what I found for the K-3 visa( using the I-129F application) :

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwslif1.shtml

Under this new K-3/4 designation, it ONLY states that you will need to furnish "Evidence of economic support". Now, because this is considered a "non-immigrant" visa, I am wondering which form to use for the evidence of support! Does this mean to use the SAME form for the K-1 (which is a non-immigrant visa as well!)????

If so, then from:

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwsimve.shtml#K-1

It states: "Evidence of financial support comes from the petitioner. Usually, the petitioner completes the Form I-134 (a shorter version of the immigrant visa Affidavit of Support, Form I-864) and provides his/her last three years of income tax returns (Forms W-2 and 1040) and a job letter stating how long he/she has had his/her job and how much money he/she makes annually. Although fiancé(e) visa applicants face less stringent documentary requirements than immigrant visa application, the interviewing officer must have enough evidence of support to approve the visa."

So -- I am not sure! But I think because the K-3 & K-1 visas are for the non-immigrant classification, we should be sending in the I-134. But that's just some general common sense when looking at the information provided. I will have to dig a bit deeper, ask what other's have done, to really get the answer.

Yes, for the K visas, you supply the I-134 along with the supporting documentation.

The I-134... will be phased out over the next several years and the I-864 will be the only one used.

BUT at the present time the other replies are correct-For the "K"Visas use the 134

"Cum catapultae proscriptae erunt tum soli proscripti catapults habebunt."

"Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" .
