I-130 approved in only 3 weeks!

Holy Arepas!!!!! I can't believe that today our I-130 case for my wife of less than 2 months was approved today!!!

I sent the petition to Nebraska Service Center. Receipt date: Jan. 24, 2005. They are currently working on I-130's from November,2003. I was ready to file a I-129F to get a K-3 visa. But then they forwarded it to the California Center which is a year ahead and working on Nov, 2004 petitions. So I wasn't gonna waste money on the I-129F. I'm just blown away that today I got an email update the our case was approved!!!!!!!!! Anyone else had this experience lately? What a miracle! I know that our prayers were heard.

QUESTIONS:
My wife is commited to a one-year medical internship which finishes in December, so I don't know if there is a way to delay the interview date at the embassy or not?? Anyone know? I heard that after the interview, she would need to enter the US withing 90 days. Does anyone know if she could just fly to Miami, to activate her US Residency, and then come back to Colombia? I know it sounds crazy that we would like to delay the whole embassy interview, but we really weren't prepared yet. Thanks!

This is exactly why I told you that filing an I-129F for a K-3 was a waste of money. Congratulations, dude!

UC Quick question...Did you start the visa paperwork after you got married in Medellin, or did you begin before the wedding?

If you get married in Colombia, you can't start the paperwork until after you get back to the US. You can do some stuff down there that you will need later, like getting your marriage certificate translated and getting notarized copies of any birth certificates, death certificates, etc. along with translations. You will also need to file 4 originals of the G-325A with your I-130 so it is a good idea to get those printed and have her fill them out and sign them so you can file them with your I-130. Have a look at the I-130 and its instructions so you can determine what documents you need to bring back with you after you get married: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/i-130.pdf

Gracias UC I just archived that link as well as your message; I suppose I should propose to her first! How does your wife like Tejas? Damn I like that part of the world...Aggies, Shiner Beer, Kinky Freidman, and George W. Bush (NOT!)
When I was in Colombia a couple of weeks ago, I heard many a Colombiano refer to Uribe as "BOOSH DOS".

She loves it. We live in a small town about an hour outside of San Antonio. Her kids are doing well in school and active in sports and social activities. She loves her house which is on an acre and a half that she refers to as her finca. She has friends both Latino and Anglo. On this site you get a lot of posts from Colombianos who are living in the US and hating every minute of it etc etc. That's not her. She is enjoying her life here with her family.

UC It is wonderful to know that you are from Texas and more so in or around the San Antonio area and the Hill country. When My Fiance arrives here we are going to the River walk in the evening so that I can show her how beautiful it is at night. I have given her photos but they do not give it the credit it deserves.
There is a small place on the river that is very famous and many have married on this spot. Do you know it?

Are you talking about Marriage Island? You can make a reservation to be married there by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 210-207-7275.

My wife and I went to the Riverwalk at Christmas. The lights reminded us of the lights in Medellin at Christmas.
