I-129F / G-325A questions

I've been traveling to Colombia for 2 years now, but am now just starting the K-1 process for my girlfriend. I have a few questions about the initial paperwork for the petition....some of it I could probably find if I seached this sight or VJ, but I think that at least one of my questions might be original enough to make posting my questions worthwhile.

1. When the forms ask for "Family Name", do I use both last names, or should I just use her Father's last name?

2. I-129F Part B #9: What is "A#"? I am assuming she doesn't have one, but want to make sure.

3. I am filling out the forms using Adobe Acrobat, but many of the fields are not long enough for the complete name, date, etc... Should I fill these fields out by hand, or is there a way to reduce the text size in order to fit the entire entry within the field?

4. I am filling out the paperwork now, but will not be able to visit her again for another 4 weeks or so. I would like to submit the petition now so that we don't waste the time. I have a scanned copy of her signature....what are your thoughts if I use that on the forms??

1) Put both .... not sure if it matters. The paternal name is the one I am sure they are referring to, but putting both names is fine ... I did.

2) "A#" is alien number. You are correct, she doesn't have one in your situation. Reply "None", do not put "N/A".

3) Don't know - I did it by hand.

4) I don't recall needing my fiancee's signature until later in the process.

You can sign the papers now. The only signature you need from her is for the letter that express you alls disire to marry. You need a letter and she needs one as if it is in her name. You can probably used the scanned copy of her signature for her letter. She has to sign her name to packets 3 and 4 which are given out by the embassy in bogota. They will be mailed to her house. The papers are taking about 6 months to be finished on the USA side and should take about 3 months on the Colombian side. Include all of her names. They will make the adjustments. As far as the spacing, type it in. It will abbreviate the items for you.

1. Family name is her father's last name, her maiden name.

2. She doesn't have an A#, so put NONE

3. Type as much as you can and leave it chopped off if it doesn't fit. You can also try to abbreviate the info. That's what we did. It's better to do it on Acrobat since it looks nicer and it fills out all four pages you need to submit. (8 total)

4. I asked my husband to sign all four pages of the G-325A when I was in Colombia and he even dated them. So there's no problem if you do the same.

Azul.

Try this file. I modified it in Acrobat and I think I made the fields big enough. I used it last year, but I don't think the G-325A has changed since then. I uploaded it to VisaJourney.com and you can download it at this link.

As far as the signatures. I believe that you do need her actual signatures on it. I sent my wife the PDF file of the G-325A view email. She printed them, signed all four pages and sent them to me via Deprisa. Keep in mind that she needs to sign each separate page of the G-325A. It cannot be copies of the same page. They each have a code in the bottom left and you need to have all four.

BTW, If you haven't already, make sure to visit VisaJourney and read the K-1 guides and the K-1 forum.

Thanks! So what do you think....if I can sign her name pretty close to how she does should I go ahead and do that? Or should I play it safe and have her sign the papers when I go down there again in 3 or 4 weeks.
