I've been traveling to Colombia for 2 years now, but am now just starting the K-1 process for my girlfriend. I have a few questions about the initial paperwork for the petition....some of it I could probably find if I seached this sight or VJ, but I think that at least one of my questions might be original enough to make posting my questions worthwhile.
1. When the forms ask for "Family Name", do I use both last names, or should I just use her Father's last name?
2. I-129F Part B #9: What is "A#"? I am assuming she doesn't have one, but want to make sure.
3. I am filling out the forms using Adobe Acrobat, but many of the fields are not long enough for the complete name, date, etc... Should I fill these fields out by hand, or is there a way to reduce the text size in order to fit the entire entry within the field?
4. I am filling out the paperwork now, but will not be able to visit her again for another 4 weeks or so. I would like to submit the petition now so that we don't waste the time. I have a scanned copy of her signature....what are your thoughts if I use that on the forms??

I did. --"I believe in making the world safe for our children. But not for our children's children, because I don't think that children should be having sex." - Jack Handy |

Jlove says on May 14, 2008, 08:45: You can sign the papers now. The only signature you need from her is for the letter that express you alls disire to marry. You need a letter and she needs one as if it is in her name. You can probably used the scanned copy of her signature for her letter. She has to sign her name to packets 3 and 4 which are given out by the embassy in bogota. They will be mailed to her house. The papers are taking about 6 months to be finished on the USA side and should take about 3 months on the Colombian side. Include all of her names. They will make the adjustments. As far as the spacing, type it in. It will abbreviate the items for you.

Azul says on May 14, 2008, 11:26: Thanks! So what do you think....if I can sign her name pretty close to how she does should I go ahead and do that? Or should I play it safe and have her sign the papers when I go down there again in 3 or 4 weeks. las cosas caen por su propio peso |
