Husband's US Passport will expire in around 4 and 1/2 months. Travelling to COL. Will that be an issue?

Hi everybody?

We are traveling to Colombia in a couple days and just realized his passport is going to expire in less than 6 months. To enter Colombia, it is supposed to be valid for at least 6 months. Is this going to be an issue? Has anybody with a passports in similar condition traveled recently?
