huevos de codorniz (Quail eggs)

Hi all!

Has anyone ever eaten these before? Someone told me they are a delicacy in Colombia. I'm always up for trying new things but how do they serve them? What do they look like? What other types of delicacies have you seen in Colombia? My fiance told me that at one time his family ate iguana but that it is close to extinction now and so they can't eat it anymore, yet he says that it is "rico"

I may have had quail eggs once. They looked like tiny chicken eggs but only 1 inch long and hard boiled. They were not too bad. Others I know of didn't like them, but I thought they were good.

Seen them, eaten them Here in Colombia they're served hard boiled and taste just like a tiny chicken egg. In Asia they're done in a shot glass, raw, supposedly as a aphrodesiac.

Huevos de codorniz are considered quite fancy food as they are expensive and they are used for parties and reunions. They serve them with salsa rosada in my household.

Well i've never considered them as fancy or a delicacy is just something used in children parties and if you order chinese rice in Bogotá they will always include huevos de codorniz....but a delicacy?? Naahh

but things are different in other regions.

Quail eggs I agree with the last two postings, those eggs aren´t a delicacy, they´re pretty common. Most people serve them boiled with salsarosada
(ketchup and mayo).
