Hello.
I have seen that there are Internet sites (Metrocuadrado, Century 21, Fincaraiz, ...).
Is it the best way ?
Can I trust the descriptions that they make ?
Are they overpriced?
What is the best way to find the bargain? Walking and asking? What else ?
There are few ads for estratos 3 and 4 ? Why?

Bill Turley says on May 22, 2008, 13:26: I have used the Classified Ad in El Tiempo and in the Classified magazines. Also word of mouth is important. Using a good realator helps too. On the ground rather than internet is critical. Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

bickerss says on May 22, 2008, 15:00: I walk around the area I like and and get an idea of it; if I see se vende signs i ring to get the price and size and then convert to sq metres. Comparing those prices with the real estate agents, the news papers and the online site will give u a good idea. If I see a building I liek I also ask the door guy if there are any for sale.

They are even available on the streets sometimes. I used them when I was looking for a finca. Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Lauthra says on May 22, 2008, 17:05: Yea, what bickerss does is pretty much what we do too. That and the El Tiempo ads. I don't like real estate agents much, cos they over charge. Nato (='.'=) 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

docbaker says on May 22, 2008, 19:11: El Tiempo on Saturdays will give you the first crack. If you are looking to rent, take all of your papers with you when you go to look. good houses and apartments are very competitive but the price is almost always negotiable. If you are wanting them to add things like hot water, paint etc. Make sure it is in the contract before you sign. In my experience stay clear of the Inmobilarias, the paperwork is never ending and they jack the price up. there are plenty of people who are selling and renting directly. To achieve great things...you must live as though you are never going to die! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Bill Turley says on May 22, 2008, 20:16: We rent out an expensive apartment through an Immolaria. It gives the owner a lot of protection for a 10% cut. Our apartment is too small and too expensive for us to live there. It is a 6 and overlooks the country club. Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Lostgringo says on May 26, 2008, 01:52: I would never completely right off real estate people. They can give you a good idea of the asking rent and good areas to live in. You can also negotiate with them. I rented through a real estate agent and only paid $300 a month for a new 3 bedroom apartment. I mean how cheap do you want to go? Again, don't write these people off completely.
