How to find a share taxi or mini bus Cartagen Airport to my baby's home in Barranquilla

I'm going to fly to Cartagena from Chicago and take whatever I can find to my loving girl friend's home in Barranquilla.

When we took a taxi from a hotel towards the bus station in Cartagena, the taxi driver told us about the puerta a puerta mini buses and they took us right to her door.

I've been taking US Air or United to Miami and then Avianca to Barranquilla, but Orbitz and everyone else wants me to take 3 flights and it's been a real pain in the ass. When we were on the beach in Cartagena this last time, couldn't help but notice all of the flights leaving so I found Spirit Air to Cartagena and figured I would find or ask where to find a shared taxi at the airport or mini bus to Barranquilla - preferrably one right to her door. And get back the same way a couple of weeks later.

Can I find one of these when I step out of the airport? I read that the the Barrio Crespo, one block from the airport is where a lot of taxis run their office. What is the Barrio Crespo?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Hola Morgum,

I genuinely tried to read your post, but could not really understand it...

What are you actually looking for?

A door-to-door service from Cartagena to Barranquilla? That's called a taxi, not a bus.

A mini-bus WON'T take you to the door...

A shared-taxi MIGHT, depending on the overall destinations (and on the driver).

How about taking a bus from Cartagena to Barranquilla THEN a taxi to your baby's home? Or I am missing something?

Better to have tried and failed than having regrets all your life about what you MIGHT have missed

The shared mini van taxis will take you door to door. I will find the number for you to call.

Yes, as I wrote, taxis will/might - buses probably won't. Na ma?

Google up either Invertours del Caribe, or Transportes Marsol.

Both have offices pretty close to the CTG airport. Like I think Marsol is a half block outside the airport. The airport is in the Crespo neighbourhood.

There's also a minivan parked a short drive from the airport on the way to the old town, hanging out a sign saying "Barranquilla". You could have a taxi drop you there for a very small fee.

In January, a minibus took my girl frined and me from Cartagena to her address, and the other 8 or so people on the mini bus to their addresses. I'm told many do now.

If that was rare, nd I can't find one, I could take a bus. Or a taxi.

No reason for any one to come and get me when I can probably get there as fast as they can come and get me.

I think bickerss and tomtom33 understand what I'm describing.

bickerss if you can find that number, I can have my girl friend call and see what the scoop is. Maybe she can arrange for me in advance, or I can call when I get there.

Thanks much

Hopefully money is not a consideration, because the ride via taxi/van will cost a bit more than the standard bus ride. Keep in mind you could hire a driver if money is no object, but the ride is about 3 hours and because the driver will lose most of his day driving you and returning his price will more likely be a bit higher than usual. If you do hire a driver - be nice - if you stop for lunch offer him some food and a beer as well. Such things go a long way to easing your trip and maybe even save you a few bucks at the end of the trip.

Miguel, I do give my drivers beer and have never had problems. A beer is not being drunk and to be honest it goes a long way in my experience in making everything just a bit easier and more relaxed. Even if the driver says no, which sometimes happens, it is the thought that counts. I have made more networking contact through treating the drivers as friends and equals than not. If you don't want to offer beer than offer something else. But offer either way.

Wow, way to go Bickerss!!! The the mar sol office in Barranquilla is within walking distance from my girl friends place and their office in Cartagena is within walking distance of the airport. The crespo road you described in your directions is exactly what I was inquiring about! Baby, if you're reading this, I'm coming to see you and you don't have to come and get me!!!

Incredible how quick many people have answered, I'll be visiting this site a lot

We took a taxi about 200 kilometers and considering the time saved and cost of a taxi to and from the bus station in the starting ciudad and destination city and how many stops the bus makes, the shared taxis not that much more expensive either. And the minivan from Cartagena to Barranquilla that dropped us off at my baby's door no way took three hours. Way faster than a taxi to the bus, a bus, and then another taxi. Either a shared taxi or a puerta a puerta minivan should be similar.

Thanks bickerss and everyone.

This is great advice and very helpful. Based on a couple of our travels, I knew what you all describe is available, I needed to know how to find it because I've never been to the CTG airport. Now I feel I can fly there with this info confident that I can be at my girlfriend's door within the shortest time possible at a reasonable cost.

If you check Expedia, USAir, American, & United/Avianca have a couple Chicago/Barranquilla one-stop flights, with a plane change in Miami. Not sure if they fly every day, but it seems as though that would be less painful, if not too expensive (if you haven't already bought tickets).

Copa has direct Panamá/Barranquilla flights, although I doubt that would be helpful.

Seems that some people think "everybody's outa step but me".
