HOW MUCH DOES THE PROCESS COST

Hi all,
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on how much the process costs to get a fiancée visa, bring her over to the USA, and marry her? The reason I specify marry is because I assume once married a different type of visa or green card must be applied for. The cost I am looking for would not include air travel, hotels, phone calls, etc...

Thanks

BTW, Going to Bogotá in July.

well... The I-129F application costs $165 + $5 for priority mail and + whatever office supplies & copies cost ($20) + whatever it costs for your beneficiary to send you their forms ($45) + Passport style photos ($5)

Of course on top of that, there is the cost of obtaining any certified copies of your and/or your beneficiary's documents.

After that the next expense comes around interview time at the embassy... $100 for the physical, $100 for the visa.

NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT Thanks that is not as bad as I thought. I thought it would be maybe $3000 +. I wonder if I should hire an attorney to make sure everything is in order?

Visa
I used an immagration attorney and ended up telling them what I needed to do near the end. The internet has the info. Also there is a do it yourself packet you can buy for about 70 dollars with everything spelled out step by step and all the paperwork included. It is not a difficult thing to do, but there is a lot of paperwork to do.

Cost The costs that add up are all the little things. Getting things notorized Aposilled etc.. There are the normal interview fees and visa fees and lab fees. Then the traveling fees (Fly to Bogota and hotel) BTW thanks to whoever posted about Dona Flora's place by the embassy. My fiancee is staying there. I would definately avoid attorney's as they will not give your case as much attention as you will if you do it yourself. Just go to Visa Journey and see for yourself. Unless you have some potential trouble like previous overstays on US visa or criminal history etc.. Avoid the attorneys.

The expenses listed above are just the beginning. A K-1 visa is only good for one entry for 90 days, the time within which your novia must marry you. After this she has to apply for adjustment of status (AOS). That is $315 plus $70 for the biometrics. If she wants to work in the meantime she must apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), that's another $175. If she wants to leave the country while her AOS is pending she must apply for Advance Parole (AP) - that's another $165.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Dona Floa's information Dona Flora's information was posted about 6 weeks ago. I gave it to my fiancee and she is staying there next week. She said it is only 100 yards from the embassy and they will gather you at airport. I erased the info so I will ask my finacee to email me her number and I willemail it to you. She charges about $30 a night with breakfast.

K-1 Cost I just started the process this month. I hired the guys at fianceevisas.net. Cost 485.00 USD. You can pay a lot more up to 3,000 to 5,000 USD. I asked the guy why they charged so little and he said. Well, you don't really need an attorney for the process. You can do it yourself. What we do is review the application, for the potenial errors that will bounce the application or cause problems. That seemed like a decent answer so I hired them. I expect to have my "prometida" here in about October.

sailordonnie Go to the site "flyamerican" gave you. www.flowerstocolombia.com/marriage_visa_services.htm. His name is Bob and he lives in Bogota but is an American. He has helped me and is very reasonable both with flowers and the visa process. The best price and service around. He has a 100% approval and is two blocks from the embassy and also has a bed and breakfast for her to stay in. If nothing just talk to him. He is a great guy and his staff is very helpful.
Good luck
