How many towns (cities) in Colombia begin with "El"

so i'm sitting here doing my homework project and thought i would throw this at the pbh community and see who can get it right...

any guesses? in order to "win absolutely no prize" you must first give the number of towns and then name them.

ready? GO!!!!!!

I thought it was easier when you wanted to know towns that started with a space.

Why don't you just Google this instead of making us do your homework? What can this possibly teach you?

there are lots of little towns starting with EL... not cities...

El Playon
El Viajano
El Copey

but remember many departamentos have little towns with the same name

poco says on Mar 8, 15:56:

Technically, there are no names of cities starting with "EL" in Colombia. It is debatable on how many places could be classified as a town. The largest (noted with an *) might qualify as I didn't do a search.

There are 44 municipalities in Colombia that start with "EL".

That list may be "municipios" and not towns/cities. What about El Espinal, Tolima?

Poco, did you just change your post? I could have sworn it said "incorpated areas" when I first read it,

Yes, I reserve the right to make slight modifications in a time span of 5 minutes. I sometimes change the wording slightly after I read it.

The closest thing to a municipality in the US would be a county. Typically, a municipality shares a name with the main town or city inside the municipality.
