We have talked a lot here about how terrible Hollywood portrays Colombia and Colombians on the wide screen but have you seen the Mexican movies?
Do you like them better? I think they are about the same as Hollywood movies or even worst because they happen to be in Spanish, in your own language.
What do you think about the way they have been portraying Colombia? You’ll have to see the movies to understand my post.
I have seen only two movies in Spanish at the local Blockbuster video store and I picked these movies because I read Colombia on the outside of the case. El Padrino The Latin Godfather and Cartel Mortal, the story for this one goes like this, Beto y Rodrigo se encuentran viviendo un vida dura en Medellin, Colombia….
I think even paisas would not be smiling too much with these productions.

I do care and many other Colombians who want to be respected around the world do care as well. Using the math below that takes the estimated size of the illegal groups and then increases them by a factor of 3 (because based on the AUC demobilization, that's the excess that decided to sign up for amnesty)...

Mr. Hollywood says on Oct 15, 2007, 20:01: Monpirri, I really understand your frustration with the view the world has of Colombia but, really, it's not because of the portrayal of Colombia in fictional movies or even in the global media. It's because of the really BAD shit that has happened and continues to happen in this also wonderful country. Your passport is discriminated against, not because of "A Clear and Present Danger," but because thousands if not millions of Colombians have entered the US and Europe on tourist visas and then never left. People associate Colombia with cocaine because it's where 85% of the world's cocaine is from, not because of "Scarface" or "Blow".

Mr. Hollywood says on Oct 20, 2007, 19:11: I think you're confusing something about the Mexico statistic: Mexican traffickers have now taken over the lion's share of smuggling from the Colombian trafficking organizations as the Caribbean smuggling routes have become more difficult. However, the production of cocaine is still overwhelmingly a Colombian phenomenon and coca doesn't even grow in Mexico. In other words, the drugs Mexican gangs are "supplying" to the US are first supplied to them by Colombia. Sorry to burst your bubble.
