Young child to the right, eyes agog with terror, cowering behind Mother...

I hope you weren't offering the local infants sweets or anything.

Just because you have been to Colombia, that does NOT mean that you are anywhere near an expert on the place. Sorry. Truth hurts.

I some times eat them Red Robin burgers with a fork and knife. They're just too freaking big and my mouth can't get around it. =\

But a sandwich???? Come on. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Constanza ended up eating a candy bar with a fork and knife.

True da mandotech. When I first went out with my husband we were all cute around each other. Now... we go eat bbq ribs and our mouths and hands are drenched in bbq sauce. Now that's true love. =)

PBHjon, I am not Colombian. I am sick of ignorant foreigners complaining and whining about every little thing that is different than their country.

If they are such whiners and completely oblivious to the fact that there are tons of other cultures and customs than their own, they should stay home.

How can someone come onto a board about a foreign country and criticize and poke fun at the cultural difference of that country? Answer - with stupidity.

Just because you have been to Colombia, that does NOT mean that you are anywhere near an expert on the place. Sorry. Truth hurts.

I must of missed the complaining and whining comment in this post.

I know, I don't see anyone complaining here. One thing is to point out the obvious differences in cultures, whether in Colombia or not, and another is to make fun of it.

Sonny says on Nov 19, 2008, 16:34:

to me it is very simple. Fork in one hand, knife in the other. Insert fork into sandwich, cut with knife. Stick fork into cut portion and lift to mouth. Insert into mouth. Repeat process untill sandwich is gone.

Just taking life easy. I worked hard for it and deserve it and now doing it.

mranderson, I must have missed the whining also, I saw it as just another observation, an observation that as a Colombian I have made many a time, BTW, same goes for pizza and colombianas.

Sonny has already given the right answer, glad that SOMEBODY can decipher this life's mystery.

Easy: hold knife in your right hand and fork in your left, as they should be held. Holding the sandwich steady with the fork, cut mouthfuls with a knife and proceed to take the cut piece with your fork into your mouth, Repeat as many times as needed. Sonny explained it perfectly. That's exactly the same way you eat a steak. Or a piece of chicken. Or a pork chop. You can eat en empanada with a fork and a knife (I usually just pick it up inmy hand), fries are always eaten with a knife and fork when eating out and in general, the less you manipulate your food with your bare fingers the better your table manners are considered to be.

Then again, there are people who put their fingers in the rice too ....and eat chicken with rivulets of chicken fat running down from the corners of their mouths...(cringe)
