How Common is WIFI in Bogota

Hola,

I'll be spending December and January in Bogota, and I'm wondering how common it is to find wifi hotspots throughout the city. Im going to rig a cell phone with gizmoproject so i can make free calls to the US, but i need a decent wifi connection to do so.

Also, how are the prepaid cell services in the Colombia? Relatively inexpensive? Good coverage?

Thanks :)

Most of the Juan Valdez' have WIFI. The key is 0123456789. Many OMAs do. Its not terrribly common yet.. Would be nice if the plazoletos in the malls had it.

hi a.k.,

i was able to use the wifi pretty well in bogota at salitre plaza....at least i think it was there.

if you're looking for something around where you are staying just check for unsecured wireless access. it's risky but it's how i got my internet while i stayed there in july.

have a great trip

Stay within 100 meters of a Juan Valdez Cafe at all times and you'll be fine. ;-)

Here's a store listing:
