This site is not the problem I have unlimited email accounts. It takes less than a minute to setup a POP3 account using ANY name desired from many different domains. When I setup an account I ALWAYS give an account address for THAT SITE ONLY, mainly to receive my password. PBH was not an exception. In over two years I’ve never received ANY email,, not one item, spam or otherwise, so the account stays open.

If spam starts coming into that box there would be a 99.9% chance the PBH site was compromised. Should that happen I’d contact the administrators.

There are benign viruses attached to emails. Their purpose is to send any email accounts found on YOUR computer to mass mailers. Isn't automation wonderful?

Sometimes I setup an email account for special use. I delete that account when finished.

I have no anti-virus software, no firewall, etc. I have never had a virus, worm, trojan, etc. and I have never had to install a "patch" (whatever that is), never had my machine freeze up, never had to reboot.... what is the secret?

I have an Apple Macintosh. The only way something could get through is with my express cooperation (I would have to respond to a prompt and type a password before a virus could get through... and I don't do that!)

...the indisputable fact is that Mac OS X's Unix core is fundamentally more secure than Windows... despite recently publicized social-engineered "proof of concept" attacks, they only work if you provide the administrative password to let the virus in.

Platano, you too? This is the last web site in the world that I though we would have to get into one of those "I hate Bill Gates....Apple is better than PC debates" I wish I could understand why you Apple folks love preaching to the world about the how glorious Apple is.

The fact of the matter is this, Apple is more secure because it represents somewhere in the area of 5 to 7 % of all computer use. So, of course it is going to be less vulnerable. We the no good people are creating these creatures like trojans, worms, and viruses, why would they creat these things for a product that represents such a small share of the market? What you have not said my friend is that as the Apple market expands, so does the vulnerability of your precious computer. In fact, there is already some evidence that seems to indicate that Macs are more vulnerable now than they were a year ago.....stay tuned Platano

The world is flat People believed that for centuries.

Apple is secure? Well as noted above,, there are so few of them. I've never seen one in an engineering office environment. Many specialized programs are not available for a Mac. I’ve never seen a Mac O.S. used to monitor or operate a process system.

That being said:

Apple never has problems

Well,, almost never

Whatever.... I don't expect Apple will ever get more than 7% of the market... ipso facto, no virus problems in the future.

Meanwhile y'all have fun installing your "patches" and buying anti-virus software.

My first Apple Macintosh computer I bought in Medellin, 20 years ago. I've had 20 years of virus-free and friendly user interface since then with Apple. It just works.

Ok, when money is no object :) Get a Mac if your main use is Internet, standard office applications and/or graphics work.

I build my own computers. The cost is low, parts replacement and add ons are inexpensive. Tons of gizzmo's are compatible. All at some cost in security. An anti-virus software slows down a P.C.

Anti-virus software isn't necessary on a Mac. The bugs I noted are very recent and none have caused a serious problem. There are thousands of viruses for P.C.’s and amost none for a Mac.

Colombians are desensitized to killing, P.C. users are desensitized to viruses.
