How can a Colombia get a tourist visa to American.

Hi,my bf came to the states last year for 5 months on a work visa and it is his understanding that he can not come here with a tourist visa for 2 years because of that. does anyone know anything to prove of disprove that? Also how can he get a tourist visa to come here for Xmas? I'm American does that help anything?

In regards to your last 2 questions, the answers are NO and NO. You could sponser him for a Fiance visa but Not enough time for a Xmas visit. As far as for the first part of your question, Poster Gator can give you an Opinion on that. I wasn't aware of a 2 year waiting time for a Tourist Visa after someone received a Work Visa provided your friend complied with all aspects of his Work Visa like returning to Col when his time was up. Not to say such a Rule does not exist only I never heard about it. Go to a 3rd country and meet him where he doesn't need a Tourist Visa like Mexico or Cuba to celebrate Xmas. Good luck

On Sept 17, 2008: Senator John McCain said, as he had many times before, that he believed the fundamentals of the economy were "strong."Hours later he backpedaled, explaining that he had meant that American workers were Strong.

Mexico won't work either. They are just as tough or not worst than the states to get a tourist visa. Just go to Colombia for X-Mas. Be Merry/Happy !!

He can apply I believe but there is never any guarantee. The simple fact that he came to the US and then went back on time may help.

"FDR in 1929 as president went on televison..." Joe Biden DEMOCRAT VP candidate who just keeps on giving! FDR elected 1932 and television appeared in the 1950''s LOL

Colombian Lover,

There is no two-year restriction on a tourist visa following a work visa.

If your boyfriend had a J visa - a cultural exchange program - funded by either government, or was learning a skill at a US University considered critical to Colombia, or was a Medical Doctor of any kind... that would involve a two-year limit.

I suspect either he fits that profile, or he has received some misinformation. Give me more information, and I may be able to help.
