Housing within walking distance of universities?

I am looking for private housing within walking distance of any universities in Colombia. As far as space goes I don't need much space at all, and as far as amenities go running water is it. The smallest apartments would be a decent fit. I shouldn't anger tenants or landlords because I am not loud or a partier. My complexion is dark enough not to stick out but my spanish isn't good enough to not.

Cali would be my first choice as a university town.
All though I would consider anywhere I am able to get
a close apartment/housing. Thanks for your time.

Housing Near Uni's There will always be lots of rooms for rent or small flats near universities in Colombia, cos there is a lot of demand. First make up yout mind as to what city and what uni you will attend, when you have that sorted finding a place would be very easy. Been there.

Housing near UniValle You say Cali is your first choice. Cali is an excellent choice and there is lots of housing near the university.

La Universidad de Valle is easily accessible by bus. Catch any Blanco y Negro going up Avenida Quinta. If you don't want to take a short bus ride you can live in a barrio nearby for example, Barrio Melendez. There are large apartment complexes like Plazuela del Sur with two bedroom apartments within walking distance of UniCentro and UniValle.

If you get an apartment on one of the upper floors of Plazuela del Sur (there are eight stories) you'll have a nice view of the Farrallones. But you'll also hear the machine gun practice from the nearby army Batallion headquarters early in the morning, like 6:00 a.m. and Friday nights the corner store usually has a parcheesi game going. There is a glass surface on the table they use and the dice rolling on the glass echos all over the barrio. It can even be heard over the non-stop music and laughter.

Dont' get an apartment on the top floor for two reasons: heat and noise from the elevator motors on the roof. There is a Presbyterian Church on the corner with Avenida Quinta. On Saturday mornings the Barrio Melendez marketplace sets up right next to Plazuela del Sur. On Sunday mornings the whole Avenida Quinta becomes CicloVia. It's great!

In walking from Plazuela del Sur to Unicentro you walk right past a a Goodyear Tire place and a McDonalds restaurant. You don't have to go into McDonalds but I thought you might like to know it is there. UniCentro has a Multiplex with 12 theaters.

Cali is a great place to live! If you appreciate salsa, you'll be in heaven!

Plátano (Disclaimer: I do not own shares in Plazuela or Unicentro! I just love Cali!)

I think staying at the platypus will be very time consuming if youre trying to find housing in Cali.
