Tom, take a look at Colpatria.com its a bank in Colombia but it helps foreigners buy property. Do you have credit outside Colombia? I know that you will find better rates in the US, especially if you have property here and can take out an equity loan. My aunt is getting ready to by a house in Bogota and after loan shopping in Colombia her best bet was getting a loan here and transferring the funds. But if that is not an option for you Colpatria is a good website with lots of information. Hope this helps.

everybody said it is inpossible do get a loan as an foreigner, but I got it approved with a minimum paperwork within 4 weeks, even I my housbank is in Cyprus and I only have a new work contract for 6 month, not married with a Colombiana and no property in any other country !

I got a House Loan over Cop. 150.000.000 payable in max. 20 yaers, from one of the mayor banks in Colombia.

Cash is KING,, get an equity loan on US property and deal with cash. You'll be surprised at "reduction". The Colombians with money sit and wait till they can get a "deal".
