I tried to get a loan at a bank where I've had a savings account for three years to do some remodeling on a house that's paid for. No dice. Even with title to the house in their hands the bank wanted a co-signer with an income of a million pesos who can show pay stubs for same for the past year. My brother in law works as a baggage handler and earns about that with tips but the job doesn't provide pay stubs and the bank turned down a letter from his employer. If you don't have a "real job" in Colombia it's hard as hell to get credit. They're about ten times stricter than the US since everybody asks for a loan but after one or two payments many default.

Tom says on Nov 16, 2004, 04:28: Loan Thanks, guess I can forget an US loan because I am not an US citizen, and outside credit is also difficult because I am a freelancer with "regular income" but if you don't have permanent Job ?! no bank will give you any loan or credit. hasta la vista 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
