Hotels near Andino (Bogota)

I'm planning on arriving in El Dorado around 8 or 9 at night, then going straight to a hotel near the Andino Centro Comercial. Only thing is, I don't know what area and the hotels are like down there. Does anyone know of any decent hotels down there? Not really looking for a 5 star pricey hotel, just a place where I can feel reasonably secure with my luggage in the room while I go get something to eat or look in the shops of the Andino Centro Comercial. Also, since I'll be getting into town on the 23 of Dec. what are the odds the places will still be open that night, or even on Christmas Eve as opposed to Christmas day?

Thanks,
Aaron

One Of... the upscale areas of Bogotá at Carrera 11 and about 82nd. Loaded with hotels-do a Google search. Closed Christmas Day-closes early on Christmas Eve. Nothing I can think of will be open Christmas Day.

A couple The Hotel Morrison is probably the most reasonable hotel near Andino (corner of carrera 13 and Calle 85), and perfectly safe, clean and respectable. There's also "Los Uruapanes", "La Boheme" and others right around there. It's a very fun neighborhood.

The 23rd will be hopping. 24th and 25th won't be so happening but still fun.

aaronfromus I have stayed at the "La Boheme" which is in a greast location right in the middle of the zona rosa of Bogota. Well it's a great location if you like to be in the middle of the action and stay up late partying very night. Bring some ear plugs if you plan on getting any sleep before 2 or 3am because the whole hotel vibrates with the music of the discotecs that surround the place.

Hotel La Fontana is actually nicer than most hotels in Bogota in fact it is probably the nicest hotel I ever stayed at in Bogota. It's worth 80 bucks a night especially if you value your sleep.

La Fontana is nice, but it's also 20 blocks from where he wants to stay. A very nice hotel near Andino is the Charleston or the Sofitel, also on 13th.

Lago 76 Hotel is near the Andino mall and it doesn't cost anything near $80 per night! A friend has been staying at Lago 76 for the last 8 years or so on Business trips to Bogota. It is a basic hotel, though safe, clean, quiet and secure and costs, according to this friend of mine, around $28 nightly(as of 6 months ago). They will negotiate cheaper rates for lengthier stays. Beleive they have a website for reservations but presently am not aware of it.Good Luck.

"Bogota is just like another city -- take your precautions. I have taken the normal bus, the transmillenium bus and hopped a cab in the middle fo the road. Once I was cheated by a cabbie, but once one guy was so honest I tipped him.
I did not carry my camera or anything, and did not feel threatened. Of coruse, I look kind of Colombian. Until, that is, I start talking, but people always went out of their way to help.
There is also supposed to be a hotel near Andino Mall, called Lago 76, which is good." Past post on PBH concerning Lago 76 hotel.

Viaggio Suites My family and I stayed there in September. The place is neat, safe and reasonably priced. They are located in Calle 86 Cra. 19, walking distance from Centro Andino but still in a very quiet area. Breakfast is included in the rate. Here is the website: http://viaggiosuites.com/

Hope that helps.

20 blocks in a Bogota cab might only cost a few bucks, but it's also likely to cost you a good hour. Traffic N. on 15th and S. on 11th can be a complete parking lot, any time of day. Doesn't make sense, IMHO, if you want to be in the Zona Rosa/Andino area, to stay anywhere else, given the sheer #of options there.

go with an apartment! check out Suites Real. Its in a very nice area close to everything! It will be much chaper than a hotel room with the comodities of having your own apartment plus much cheaper! :)
Here is their website: http://www.suitesreal.com/97/english.htm

Lagoa if it she same place i looked at was 350,000 pesos a week, but to meis like backpacker place. not clean and very low class. I may have the wrong place though compared to the one mentioned above (the one know if calle 75 con approx 15).

Hotel chile inn is great , 96000 pesos, super nice, huge room and 10 min walk zoana rosa. Calle 74 , cn 15-60. There are aparthotels near zona rosa, (2 min walk ) for 140,000 pesos a night, 2 bedroom, laundry, etc icl.

Hotel Casablanca in93 is a faimily runplace for about 78,000 + taxes a night. Its good too.
