go and stay at the San Fernando Real hotel, very very reasonable price with good room, nice breakfast included, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and even a little gym. Website: www.sanfernandoreal.com

Ditto The SFR Hotel is a great place and not too expensive.
It's a bit of a ways from the Av Sexta if you're planning on hangin' out there, but, if you're looking for a decent hotel that's right next to the soccer stadium and right on top of a disco, the SFR is the place to stay.

(Hint: Bring earplugs if you plan to get any sleep on Fri or Sat nights.)

Closer to Avenida Sexta The Plaza Versalles is only one block from Avenida Sexta. Rates are about $50-$60 a night.

i havent got one negative to say about the San Fernando. I saw there was a disco right underneath but i never really heard it in my room. I stayed there for near on 3 weeks. Very hospitable.

Crazy4Cali says on Aug 22, 2006, 10:36:

I'm not complaining... but during one visit there, they decided to jack-hammer the pool area to death: no pool for the week and lots of noise right outside the window.

another time, our room was right over the disco and we could hear it until 2 or 3 am (if I took my earplugs out).

Being right next to the stadium, we had to go past the army a couple of times when they had a contentious soccer game going. Never had any problem, just a little odd for this gringo to have to walk past soldiers and tanks to get to his hotel.

Probably the most embarrassing experience was one my wife and I had sitting in the lobby waiting for a taxi. A gringo (Muy gringo) had just said good night to his girlfriend as she left to go back home. No sooner had the taxi left the driveway and the guy was asking the desk clerk where he could get "some action" and to tell anyone who called for him that he was asleep and couldn't answer the phone.

oy vey!

What a scum back!!! "Where can I get some action?" Classy!!!! Those are the Usa people that give us a bad name.... Anyway I was think of the Hotel Intercontinental my aunt lives right across the street from there.. To me honest the Disco sounds fun at San Fernando Real!! I am young not married and want to meet some chicas with my cousin.. Does Hotel Itercontinental have any bar or club worth going to?

Hotel Intercontinental I just got back from staying at the hotel intercontinental in Cali and to my surprise they are still renovating it after more than 3 years. I believe the top three floors are shut down for renovations and you can hear the hammering early in the morning at least in the third floor which is where I stayed. However, the hotel is very clean, comfortable and well kept. The attention is five star but for $270,000 (115 dollars a night)including a buffet breakfast it better be. Inside there is an olympic size pool, jacuzzy, sauna and a gym. There is also a casino, a piano bar lounge and two very nice restaurants with sit on bars. I do not recomend the casino, but the night bar is very classy and private. No night club but within walking distance you can find what ever suits your needs. Note, nearby there is a Cigar store, La casa del Habano, which is the only store garanteed to sell original cuban cigars. I believe it is the only one in Colombia. Best of luck.

Right across the river... from the Inter, there's a 2 block stretch of happening clubs full of young ladies (nice safe area). And a block west of the Inter there is the Obelisk with a good restaurant and bar with seating across the street overlooking the river (nice breeze at night).

Hotels I stay at Cali Charm for $40 a night including breakfast. It' alott better than any hotel I've seen in Cali. However maybe not a good fit if you are a real party animal and want to raise hell.

Hotel Intercontinental I stayed there back in June and can not say it is 5 stars. It's no nicer than the Holiday-Inn Select I am sitting in as I write this e-mail. Do not get me wrong it is nice and you feel safe with all the armed guys standing outside and in the lobby. If you are only staying a few days then it is fine but for a loger stay look for an appartement or B&B.
