As the Intercontinental hotel these days charges almost 250 USD a night i think about staying in Torre de Cali, is this any good, safe?

I think it is safe, I heard it is okay.

Did you check http://www.reservashoteleras.com.co/public/default.asp

What? I just came back from there and paid $56 or $53 a night with lunch or dinner for two.
They are ripping you off bro!
It was a nice place to stay in a good location.
People working there are nice also.

Any of you guys been to the restaurant on the top floor of the Cali Tower? How is it? How's the view?

Man Tequila says on Mar 5, 2008, 15:46:

Where'd you stay, NYB?

$250 a night is way too much even for the Inter.

You must have booked the whole floor.

Man Tequila says on Mar 5, 2008, 16:02:

The website says 250 as well. If you want to stay at the Inter, try calling them up and ask for the normal price. If that doesn't work, there are lots of hotels in Cali and not so many tourists. If staying for a while, you might contact Arthur Brode.

That guy's a salesman. Hotel Torre de Cali charges 50 something US$. Look under plans on the website. You get breakfast and lunch or dinner. Good value for the money.

Try El Obelisco just a block west on the same street.

Simon...I stayed at the Torre many times in 2000-2001. The name of the restaurant was called Ventanas del Mundo. The view was spectacular during the day and the evening. Not quite 360. I left two days before the car bombing at the hotel in 2000, I think

The restaurant was closed down for lack of business. It was a real pricy place. It was a shame that they couldn't have had lower prices to enable more people to see the view.

I don't know what is in there now. Does anyone?

Simon says on Mar 5, 2008, 17:38:

Thanks Wendall. It's interesting that it was called 'Ventanas del Mundo', believe that's the same name of the restaurant that existed in the World Trade Center, 'Wndows of the World'.

Wait wait wait - you need a spot in Cali? Everyone know when it comes to Cali - you go to Brode. My man brode has the best places, the safest neighborhoods and the best prices. I stayed at the brode motel. Always felt safe, price was right, and brode can even show you around for an extra couple bucks.

The hotel at torre is really not that nice. Huge drop down from the Inter., and the Inter is not really super nice...

restaurant no more I've been told, strange how your spelling goes off track after a few years because that word looks wrong " res......" missing an e or an " a " to many but at least I like the last four letter word within this word.

My first trip to Colombia - I stayed at the Intercontinental Tequendama. My buddy had an inlaw who was a manager, so we got a cheap rate. But, at full rate, the room would have been about $200 usd a night. $250 a night at the Intercontinental in Cali???? ... I believe it. It is 3 years after I was at the Tequendama in Bogota. Things change.
