Hotel Majestic, Barranquilla?

Is it possible that this is the inexpensive hotel that people comment on here?:
http://www.hotelmajesticcolombia.com/default.htm
It seems they no longer belong to some hotel group that provided website and e-mail addresses, as the links used previously no longer work.

It sure does not look like an inexpensive place, unless these fotos are of a former glory.

I sent an e-mail to inquire about rates.

Also, any comments about the Hotel Royal?: http://www.royalhotelbaq.com/plan_classic.html

No, that's Majestic. It's now in walking distance (3-5 blocks) from a new mall (Portal del Prado), several universities, and a movie theatre, amongst other things. The area is safe. I haven't stayed there in 5 years, but the hotel looks very similar. Decent hotel. Just be sure that you ask for exactly everything that you need, prior to reserving.

And yes, those prices ($35-40) are what decent Colombian hotels should cost, at least used to cost. A/C, double occupancy, Thank God that BAQ is not a tourist town.

Hotel Royal. I haven't stayed there in years. It's functional, but not the best option in that price range. Good location in El Prado, but horrible service. For instance, several times reserved a room with a single king bed. Confirmed by phone prior to trip. I would arrive and they'd only have two single beds, unattached. Or, they'd put me in a room with no a/c when the temp is above 85 degrees. Then having to fight for getting a correct bill, since they'd mistakenly mis-charged stuff to your room. Small stuff in the long haul, but annoying as hell. They did once have a smoking hot lady working at the reception desk.

Greetings, The Hotel Majestic is always my jump off point when I fly in to Barranquilla on my way to Santa Marta. The hotel has a wonderful staff and the place is very nice. I was there about one year ago. $42.00 U.S. per night includes breakfast and complmentary cocktail in the evening. Check out at 3 pm. They have a nice pool and the building is very secure. Easy walking distance to the El Prado district, plus the neighborhood is safe. I first discovered the place from my Lonely Planet Guide Colombia.
