Hostals Bogota

Hey amigos,

I decided I shall stay in a Hostal instead of a hotel [wow..bogota hotel are more expensive then Canadian/American 5 star]

Its the best idea because I will be traveling about and only be there to sleep and maybe eat a little bit. Platypus looks very boring.. and not clean.

I see http://www.lacasonadelpatio.net/ and its like 10 blocks from Park 93 and clubs so this seems cool.
Plus you can have Private room and bath.

Anyone ever stay at la casona before? Hear anything bad or good.. is it safe part of city?

Gracias!

Jordan~

Platypus is awesome I'm sorry but I absolutely beg to differ about your opinions on Platypus.

I stayed there for the first time this past February, and was very very impressed. It's as clean, and has a much better atmosphere than a number of hostels that I have been to in both Canada and Europe.

It's a very diverse, international, fun and adventurous crowd that lands there, and I met the most interesting cross-section of people I *ever* have in such a short length of time. Boring is the complete wrong word.

While I was there i met a press photographer specialising in conflict (google Jason Howe), a guy on his way home after 2 year backpacking around the world, and tons of other awesome people from all over (Brits, Germans, other South Americans, Koreans, Isrealis, folks from Canada and the US). Great social atmosphere.

As for the Casona,I have no idea, but I think you'll get a higher response rate over on the Lonely Planet site than you would here. Folks over here seem largely to be hotelly-sorts.

Thanks for the update.

I am getting my friend to look into a few places..

I sent her pics/addresses/prices of 3 hotels. Some look amazing and all run under 70$US a night.

If not, ill stay at the La Cosana. Seems fine for me just sleeping there and such.

Platypus I've stayed at Platypus twice and have enjoyed it immensely. German is a super helpful guy as well as his staff. Nothing but good to say about them.
