I agree ,ok nothing was ever proved (amazing what money can do).But not so long ago he was almost forgotten now everybody is gushing about him.In England we had Gary Glitter who was convicted of various acts of abuse with young girls in England ,Vietnam etc.His music died the death on radio etc,he used to star in various adverts on TV & his main song was used on Tv's Galdiators he even started making a comeback with his extravagant Glam rock outfits till it was all discovered.
Back to Michael Jackson I always had great respect for Jarvis Cocker the singer with Pulp when he jumped up on stage at an awards ceremony back in the 90's this was when Jackson was swanning about with kids on stage (Excellent Jarvis my hero).

There was NEVER ANY proof of anything? And he is labelled a pedophile? Yeah, good ole USA - guilty until proven innocent. Regardless of how strange he was towards the end, he was a great, talented musician. It is still sad.

Just because you have been to Colombia, that does NOT mean that you are anywhere near an expert on the place. Sorry. Truth hurts.

Not necessarily. Anyway, don't forget he went to court with the 2nd accusation... and won... hands down. Not because he had a good lawyer, but because it became increasingly obvious that the evidence was a sham.

Who knows the truth, but its worth considering that even if he was 100% innocent there's a very good chance that the accusations would have been made anyway... because of his lifestyle... weird appearance, etc.

He brought a lot of good into the world, no doubt a lot more than any of us.

I am not convinced MJ was a pedophile, but no doubt he spent his entire adult life trying to make up for a lost childhood, and did so in ways that seem very bent. I really do think the hotel balcony for two seconds thing was blown way out of proportion, I could see my Dad doing the same thing -- didn't your parents ever pretend to throw or drop you? BFD.

it is not true at all fullboat. sometimes it is easier just to pay to make these things go away, and what's 30,000,000 to a guy worth 700,000,000 and an earning potential of even more?

I think Man Tequila, as usual, is spot on.

0 funny, 0 helpful.

Man Tequila says on Jun 28, 2009, 19:11:

The accusations caused a lot of harm to MJ's reputation and career, and people sometimes settle for those reasons. I don't care for pedophiles, but there is probably a difference between touching someone's penis (intentionally, or by accident; clothed or unclothed) and full-on sex. I don't know what happened, and you don't either. Pedophiles are usually a lot less public about their proclivities. No one is saying MJ was untwisted.

Agreed MT, no one (other than him) knows what happened. But people so eager to claim he's guilty do not know that for a fact and in my opinion are being very disingenuous, especially since he was acquitted at some point. Celebrities are targets of these sorts of things.

It could be said that MJ definitely gave waaaay too much papaya.

If he was a pedophile, he should have been in jail, but regardless, he was a very me$$ed up individual who I believe tried to live his childhood as an adult vicariously through his money and the freedom it brought him.

kenblanquito says on Jun 29, 2009, 13:31:

First of all, I am not a fan of Jackson but I do think that he represented a special breed of genuinely gifted charismatic person/entertainer who would stand up alongside the Beatles, Presley, Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison as being a true superstar.
There is little doubt that in his early career, he was part of the "manufactured" pop scene, bit like the Osmonds, Monkeys and the likes. The difference was he developed from that after having left the Jackson 5, started writing his own songs and became more involved in his presentation.
It is little wonder that he was/appeared strange to us: hardly a surprise after the manner in which he was subjected to abuse as a child and the fact that he was a star so young in life.
As for the child abuse claims, I personally think that he left himself open to it because of his appreciation of kids as people and he probably lived his childhood through them. And some nasty people (ie the parents of the kids) took advantage of this opportunity to exploit. Did he pay for this error of judgement; in the end with his life!
Leave the guy to rest in peace; he was never proved guilty of these crimes was he? And for those who think he was guilty, then he received his just reward.
Funny though how other "stars", like Jerry Lee Lewis (who had a sexual relationship with a minor female) and Bill Wyman (Mandy Smith, another minor), among others I feel sure, seem to have got away with something just as foul. Because regardless of their appearances, the young females were classified as "children" due to their ages being under 16 at the times!

kenblanquito says on Jun 29, 2009, 18:02:

Regardless of his faults, just imagine how many people were touched by his music (my nieces for example) and are devastated by his death, particularly the young. He should also be remembered for his ability to unite differing races and was an inspiration to the black community-you can be black and be successful-the most successful. You can be different and be accepted. His funny/strange characteristics were only really questioned after all the child abuse rubbish. Also, how much money did that guy give to good causes and how many organisations was he involved with? The Beatles, as Lennon once said, were more popular than God/Christ! And Jackson?
I remember the day that Hendrix died, I was 15. I cried. I remember when Lennon was killed. My mother phoned me at work in tears! Jackson deserves similar treatment and with pride, not shame. And I am not a fan, as I previously stated.
