Honeymoon in Cartagena??? Any thoughts???

Hi All,

Just wanted to get some opinions about Cartagena. I saw on the Internet some seemingly nicely decorated romantic apartments by the beach in Cartagena with some nice views in the day and at night. Thought about renting one for a few days (about 3) for my honeymoon in late june or 1st week if july. Prices does not look that bad. But the one that I really like is abour $139 US per night. Any thoughts??? Has anyone been to Cartagena? Any nice places to eat, visit, enjoy? Safe???? The apartments have 24 hour security.

Is Cartagena a place that you would consider going for a honeymoon? Don't want to spend a whole lot of money, but want something nice and romantic for a few days!

Thanks!

When I get married, Cartagena is the only place in the world I would consider going for my honeymoon.

Cartagena is definitely romantic especially if you're there with the one you love.

Tour the old city at night in a horse drawn carriage with a bottle of wine. If that doesn't do the trick, nothing will.

We didn´t go there on our honeymoon, but we did spend a really romantic weekend there while being "novios". We constantly look at the pictures and talk about it. Been three years now.

Been there more times! Hi eagle46,

I have been there with my novia several times as well. Now we are married and living in Denmark. It is for sure a nice and romantic city. Maybe a little touristy but you can easily find nice spots, romatic places etc.

The horse ride through the old town is a must as mentioned.

Your dates are outside the 'rush-hour' which is from X-mas to February.

Good luck.

However Don't go to Cartagena for the beach.

I repeat: Go to Cartagena for the romance and history of the old city. Do not go there thinking it's a nice beach.

eagle46 The apt sounds a bit expensive, but you will have to post the link for us to see.

The Old City is a very romatic place by night, lots of good restaurants to eat at.

The beach is only so so, but the beaches on the Isla Del Rosario about 45 mins away by boat are very nice.

Destination Wedding ?? Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and wanted to get some info on weddings in Cartagena. I'm planning a destination wedding and I’m looking for Hotels for my guest. I searched the internet but the information is very limited. I'm looking for all-inclusive hotels. (No need for fanciness) I was told Decameron & Cartagena Plaza were two options. If anyone is familiar with these hotels please let me know. Or if you know of any wedding plans I would greatly appreciate it. (I would love to get married by the beach)
Thanks

I was in Cartagena last week and there was a wedding at the Decameron Hotel right on the beach. I didn't end up making it over there for the service but I sat with the married couple on the flight home and they were very very happy. Friends at my hotel went over for the service and said it was the best wedding that they had been to.

Cartagena Penthouse for Honeymoon - Good or too pricy? Hi all,

Some have asked me to post this URL for their comments about apartments in Cartagena for a (my) honeymoon in June/July 2005.

Here it is:

http://cartagenaapartments.net/

I really like the night view and the way the rooms are laid out. Do you think that it is a bit pricy for about 3 days for $139.00???

Anything else comparable? Night view, room layout, etc?

Thanks all!!!

Cartagena Pics ColombianoX

Thanks a lot!!! The pics are very convincing. I spen some time on the internet checking out other pics too of Cartagena. It seems like a great place to visit. I think that Cartagena will be my choice as I had heard so much about it before.

Thanks all for the comments in helping me to consider some selections.
For an estimated 3 days, about what should I plan to prepare to spend,

1 - apartment preferably or would a hotel be better???
2 - food, restaurants
3 - entertainment

Thanks!!!!!!
