Need suggestions, my fiance is Colombian and only recently obtained her passport. We are going to be married in early March and I need suggestions on where to take her. Should I assume I cannot take her out of Colombia - or are there South American countries that admit Colombians without a visa?
Suggestions within colombian would be appreciated as well - except Cartagena and Santa Marta.

If so, Id suggest Buenos Aires, very nice, very romantic and not very expensive. bufalo says on Jan 24, 2006, 11:03: Yup, Buenos Aires sould be my choice to, we went twice and loved it. You can even take a side trip to Montevideo and then on to Brazil. From what I've seen, there hasn't been any south american country that a colombiana needs a visa for, although I have heard that Ecuador (of all places) asks for one now. If you are from the states and go to brazil you need a visa (and I believe Chile too). Hold the phone just thought of something. If you guys are leaving from Colombia to go on a honeymoon, not the US, then I would definitely go to Cuba. We went there and it is beautiful, see it before Fidel goes and there is a Starbucks and McDonalds on every corner. We found cheap deals in Varadero which is a resort area a bus ride from Havavna. I'll check the Brazilian consulate in advance. Otherwise, the islands mentioned above might be the best bet for price and the least hassle.

A really nice beach resort area with access only by boat or airplane is Capurgana near the border with Panama. It's pretty popular with honeymoon couples from Medellin and you can find a package at any Colombian tourist agency. I looked into Cuba once from Cali and it's all out the most expensive destination you can find. Don't know why. You can also go to the Republica Dominicana. She needs a visa but the travel agency gets it for her so long as you've bought a "package" (they don't want her to stay). In any case if you just want a nice beach vacation no need to leave Colombia and every option here is much cheaper than foreign alternatives.

When my wife and I last checked at a travel agency in Cali word was she needed a visa and it was available only if we bought a round trip vacation package.
